Oh, I do know a dave from Tulsa. I forget now what his name on here is, but I have been to his house.
HAPPENINGS IN THE MID-ATLANTIC FORUMPart #2
Pughbear is the Dave I am talking about.
Oh yes, that is him. I got some plants from him at the end of the summer.
He is such a darling and in such pain most of the time. I do not know how he does it.
WOW that was a huge flock of starlings. We have that in this area and they are so much fun to watch but the flocks aren't as large as that one.
Yes, Holly, isn't that video amazing? Quite a story behind how they were able to take it, too.
Flocks of birds always remind me of schools of fish. I only have one school of fish live experience though, playing with one in the shallows off a beach in Florida. I'd love to hear any of your diving experiences with same? I'd also love to hear about your latest dive trip...Whered you go what did you see Pics please!!!
Any special things you will or won't be doing during your cataract recoup? Hope Ric has some tasty menues and is busy procuring ingredients as he is so good at doing. And, if he happens to have a sweet potato pie receipe that will convince some Northerners that it is every bit as good as pumpkin pie and not just a side dish, I'm on the look out for one.
Glad we are all having a great spell of fine fall weather to do our to dos or just plain enjoy.
Here's that video link again if anyone missed it
http://vimeo.com/31158841
Oh wow, I got that video today. Being a bird person I could not help but think of the old saying that a bird poops every 15 minutes.......so you have any idea how much poop went into that water during that flight?
Sorry, but I am about to go clean bird cages and bird poop is my specialty, besides Christmas Cactus and Jasmine.
Love ya and have a great day. JB
WOW .... wonder how many birds there were? All I could think is 'close your mouth and cover your head!!!!!!!' lol
Guess you guys have heard about the Oklahoma earthquakes. lol There is a T-shirt out that says "I survived Oklahoma 2011. Snowmagedden, Tornado Superoutbreak, Summer, Oklahoma Earthquakes" with a check mark beside each of them, then the last one has no checkmark and a blank. LOL it's cute! There are a bunch of shirts out about the quakes now.
Hey! Here I am, back from the abyss. Well, got over the stroke and the concussion and the nasty cut on my leg (all in July) then we were doing our last outdoor craft show on 10/15 in Dillsburg, Pa when I tripped over a weight while we were putting our tent up & fractured my kneecap. I had some percocet, which that and my cane enabled me to go to my 50 year H.S. Reunion that night. Then I went to Hershey for an x-ray and it was confirmed. Jeez, I need a set of training wheels. Anyway, it's much better now and we just came back from another trip to va, this time for metal detecting for gold. Now We can all rest up & heal until march 2012 when we bring the camper back & start our monthly trips all over again. I did collect some seeds in Va. from the teeniest tiniest little sweet peas I ever saw in all my borned days. Pink & white, flowers no more than 3/8 inches across. I wanted to go back to that location last weekend & collect some more, but we never got there. Darn! But I know where it is & in September or October will return, take pix & collect more seeds, unless I can get these I collected to germinate in the Spring. Bob is getting his right knee replaced very soon after our last craft show 12/3 so he heals by the time we take the camper back to Va in March. Here's a recent pix of us with one of the gold prospectors from Va, Tim, who has adopted us as his Yankee folks. Nice to be back in the fold again, Buttoneer, Judy Showers.
Judy maybe we need to wrap you in cotton batting for a little while and make sure nothing else happens. Can't believe you went to your reunion on the same day that you broke your keen cap. I would be on the couch with my legs propped up. What would it take to keep you down girl. LOL
Nice to see you posting again.
Hooray! Judy, I'm glad your knee is healing... so good to see you posting again! I'm with Sally, although i was thinking bubble wrap...
Tell Bob to be good about his PT after his surgery... we need to see both of you at the Feb seed swap! *HUGS*
Judy, you are just amazing! So glad you're recovering, and indeed training wheels sound like a good bet. I would wrap my knees in bubble wrap when I did battle with the riding lawnmower to avoid all the bruising that would result otherwise, so it is indeed an option.
Coleup, that video was fantastic. David enjoyed it, too.
Hey hey Buttoneer!! Glad you're in one piece (at the moment LOL)
Yeah, I keep falling down, only to get back up, again. Well, especially now that I'm retired. Gotta enjoy life while I still have it. Does anybody have any idea what that teeny tiny sweetpea I found in S. Va would be? Will try to look it up when I get time. Take care all of you "Flower buds" of mine and will keep more closely in touch.
(here's a pix of Bob & Fritzie getting their first ride on an ATV back in June.
Yes, Buttoneer glad to have you back and hope to meet you, the original Judy, sometime soon, so you and hubby stay in one piece. As to that sweet pea you found, my daughter mentioned to me yesterday that she was still seeing lots of blooming flowers up in Vermont. She said that the sweetpea flowers seemed really "small" though...Wonder if it could be some function of weather/temps?
And, inquiring minds want to know, is there still gold in them thar hills?
(the other Judy) Coleup
Ps Pic of grandson jumping off swing into huge pile of leaves yesterday. DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
Judy .... I agree with critter. We need to wrap you in a BUNCH of bubble wrap. Take care
lol Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day is the 4th Mon of January.
Who knew that bubble wrap could be a fashion statement as wll as "practical"?

I already am growing the beach pea & no, it is waaaaay smaller than that. And hope to meet you guys & gals I haven't met yet & see old friends again. Yes, February would be great for the seed swap weather permitting. And Yes, there is gold in them there hills (& creeks). Will post a picture as soon as I take one. ((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) to all. Judy.
Wow, that beach pea in my photo was the size of my little fingernail... surprised you could even notice/see "way smaller" blooms.. you've got sharp eyes from all that prospecting!
The seed swap is always a "weather permitting" thing.. that's just the nature of a midwinter event!

Hey Buttoneer, Thanks for posting the pic of your display. Took me right back to my craft show days. We made hanging lamps and planters out of old tin cans! We actually made our things at the shows as people watched. Oxy/acetelene torch and tin cans make for quite a transformation. Loved meeting the folks out there and promoting some creative recycling. Started in the New Hope, PA area in the early 70's. Sorry, no pics but here is a link I found just recently to some one doing something similar
http://tincanlights.com/artist.htm
and a picture of one of his candle holders. The flickering shadows that fill an entire room are amazing!
