CLOSED: Green fly to identify.

Severna Park, MD(Zone 7a)

I have several shots of green flies that are quite similar in size and shape but vary quite a bit in the intensity of the green coloring.

This is a blow fly (Diptera: Calliphoridae); there are species in two genera (Lucilla and Phormia) that can be very similar in appearance - see http://tinyurl.com/2ekbe7b for some examples. Blow flies usually are the first insects to arrive at the corpse of a recently deceased animal.
