I do believe all Orpingtons came from England. They have a thing for perfection and most people there breed show quality birds. They have the best beef cows in the world with 95 % being AI. If you look at the worlds best cattle semen, most comes from England. Breeding the best to the best produces the best.

Looks dead like a red comet to me. I agree with Cajun..

I won't mind if it is a RSL or a RC. I have a RC and she is much lighter colored. Actually more orange than red. These 2 BO? and the RSL pullets are all pretty friendly. They are supposed to be great layers.

I got 2 eggs today and 3 yesterday.

Love the blue. I wanted BO because they are said to be very friendly. I bought 2 BO pullets at TSC but think they were actually RSL.

Nadine, one of your Standard Cochins started laying and I will let her set them and then pull them and put in a hatched just before the pip. I hope it's the Silver Lace, her body type could use some improving. Bred to your Blue cock should help but it may take several generation. The Blue cock and Black hen have really filled out nice and are excellent birds. I should be able to bring them back to you later this Spring with several young birds as well.

Oh cool..Kenboy, I was wondering how they were doing..Not a problemo about bringing them later in the Spring. How is that quilt getting along?

Very slow. I lost my Mom the first of November and things have dragged since then. My brother and I was there when she went and it was so comforting to have him beside me when she went. She was 91 and had a good life and was not in any pain. I am so glad after all these years, that you and your Dad are having the chance to form a real relationship. I only hope your Brother wakes up, life is too short to hold grudges. I hope sometime this year, that you and Jonathan have a chance to come up here. I have so much to show him, I am sure we would have a blast.

As far as the quilt is concern, I have picked my pattern and it takes three different fabrics so I stopped by Joan Cooks and she took me to a fabric store in Tyler and we had a good time. I got a cutting cutting mat and only need to oil Maggi's machine and have her teach me how to use it. The last quilt I did, I was 12 and sowed it by hand. I am not in any hurry but want it to look good.

kenboy, my dad taught me how to use the sewing machine. When asked who taught me to sew so well, I remember telling Mrs Sisson (our JH home ec teacher), that my dad taught me. She was a good friend of my grandmother's--who was an excellent seamstress and also taught me much about the needle arts--and almost fell over backwards when I said that. He also taught me to take the machine apart and put it back together again. Sewing machine have evolved since then.

I'm sure you'll do fine with the machine and have fun with your project! =D

Kenboy, I am sorry about your mom. I didn't know you lost her back in November. My dad and I are still very much together alot.He drives over here to visit when he can or I will go to him just about every weekend. My brothers are still not having to do anything with him. But he has me and my family. My grandson wants to know his great grandpa..not sure what he will call him yet..my grandson sends him pictures and letters..lol..
If you need help with that quilt, I can come up and help ya. I can bring my daughter's sewing machine as well..

Well the poles are up but we have to wait until the ground dries up abit..too muddy to drive a tractor w trailer(got lumber on it) near it. Will get the wire after I see how much I need..lol..
