Kim, that's a really good idea to take some photography classes. Enjoy.

Marna, thanks for directing me to Doug Brown's website. I'm going to try to set the camera up by his step by step guide. The last few days have been really non-productive as far as learning. Things changed, my tripod order arrived, I'm going to set it up and try to shoot some pics. today.

This is my update on finding myself in the maze; Marna, as I downloaded the software. Then proceeded to D. Brown's step by step guide. I've done some settings for shooting birds in flight. I'm waiting for an opportunity to take the camera out on the field to do some practice shots. Oh Margaret, having upgrading my software, I was able to get to this screen with the 11 icons across the LCD screen. I'll study your instruction as posted above and see if I can learn something new. Many thanks again.

Good for you Kim. HUGE piece of equipment to learn. Lots of tutorials on youtube, so I plan on taking advantage of them this spring when I can start shooting more without freezing my big bum off.

Good job, Kim. The icon I was talking about is the one second from the right.

Here goes; Margaret is this what I needed? Our temp. is unusually warm, there is low rain changes. I think I'm going to take my camera out on a boat ride and have a field test this afternoon.

Hey Kim, that's exactly what you needed. Bravo! Have fun on your field test.

Many thanks Margaret, I'm on cloud nine ... the camera is alot more than I anticipated. I had a great time exploring the equipment, and took some auto shots as well as some manual shots. It's really 'sharp' and not at all 'soft' as they were before.

The evening was spent with family and loved ones. Then I went and looked for more accessories items such as lense hood and such... Whoa! This is only the beginning of an exciting journey... for me. Many thanks for your support.

Any time, Kim. I'm glad it's made a difference. I also increased the in-camera sharpening a notch or two.

Well, Duc, I finally gave in and ordered the Canon 1D X. It is in the hands of UPS and will be delivered here on Tuesday.

Mrs_Ed,
Please add my new camera to the list. I still use the 560, but have added Olympus OM-D EM-5 (Micro 4/3). Lenses 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 and 40-150mm f4.5-5.6. Am saving up for a 70-300mm.
Thanks,
Becky

1st pic is a crop of the 2nd.

Got the 75-300 f4.8-6.7 for my birthday. Loving it. Please add it and remove the Oly 560 from my list. The IS on the OM-D is great. I can actually hand hold it with this lens and get unblurred pics, even at 300.
