Hi all,
This is an Araneidae, but I can't find which one it is.
Photo was taken in south-eastern Sweden, not too far from a lake. I'm sorry but I don't have any photo of it's underside.
Anyone able to ID it?
CLOSED: Araneidae, but which one?
I see that you already have received an answer to this on Arachnoboards as a Metellina sp. in the family Tetragnathidae (long-jawed orb weavers). There are very similar species in North America, see http://tinyurl.com/2elku2e
Yes, thank you suunto :)
My lack of knowledge led me to believe that ALL orb weavers were under the Araneidae family.
You all have a Merry X-mas !
Ow, and thanks for the link to that photo too suunto.
You're welcome, WayuU - Many tetragnathids construct their webs very near to or even over water, while some others (in the genus Meta, for example) very commonly are found just inside caves.
Yes, we have a cave spider in Sweden in that family. I think it's Sweden's largest spider. Here a photo from our cellar were we have a lot of them.
