This one is missing the right hind leg. He is apparently still mobile. Is this a common injury?

This appears to be a red-legged grasshopper, Melanoplus femurrubrum - see http://tinyurl.com/286ttch for an image. Missing legs appears to be a common occupational hazard among grasshoppers.
