One of those five people per room could be just your cup of tea. Or they might all snore. Better to go on vacation and enjoy it while allowing others to cook for you.
Now my husband is following your "Etelka's USA Tales of Adventure" and always wants to know the latest post. He's cute.
Maybe it isn't much fun alone but being with the wrong person hasn't been much fun for you either. Are there any senior groups you could join? How about dance clubs? Would you consider starting a little cooking club? Advertise - SINGLE RICH MEN ONLY!
Omoshiro
Being rich is not everything, my best husband was the last one, he was a good old boy, lived in a old trailer , was a hunter and fisherman. He was a blind date when I met him. When he came first time to take me out, he brought me 3 bananas and 2 tomatoes. I tought, well he is a practicle guy. When he came out of his truck, I tought not an ather short one, he was 5'3" and had a well rounded figure. He took me to a seafood bufett place, I never seen enybody put that much on their plate. I held my hand front of my face so nobody can see me, I was so embarresed. He was so funny, I could not stop laughing, he just kept on liking his fingers. But when I looked in his eyes, he had eyes like my dad. I'm like Oh God look at his fingers, he had rough looking hand, he was a plumber and pipe fitter. But then I realized, my dad raised 4 kids with hands like that. On the way home he was asking me if I was afraid of him. He said I was cluching my purs, like I was affraid. I said I think I am too old for this kind of dates. I married him 6 months later, and never stoped laughing for 10 1/2 years. Moral of the story is ,do not skipp the little guy with a big heart for the tall and handsom gigalo. No offens if your husband is tall.
kiseta: Your stories are wonderful.
My grandmother always said "Good things come in small packages"
Since its winter and there isnt a clematis in sight I dont mind not keeping to the thread and exchanging homilies.
How ever maybe we shouls mention the clems now and then.
I just ordered another 2 Niobe and Galore. Collages to follow.
pirl, great pic. You guys are so cute!
ooops sorry Niobe twice
I went to your home page, Etelka, and you're very nice looking. Was that taken in the church kitchen? Lovely piece of needlework as well.
Thanks, Dem! I'll tell Jack.
Jo Ann - If I had to pick a favorite it would be the Niobe collage but they're all lovely. Caroline would come in second. Beautiful work!
Thanx
During our wait for the clem's to arrive I really don't mind being off topic and enjoy it.
Yes me too. I had just done the collages and wanted to post them somewhere.
They fit in perfectly here. When the clem's start arriving I'll start an "Omoshiro - delivery" thread.
Great story kiseta! You made me laugh! Lovely picture pirl and love the collages. Good idea b/c clems looks so different as they grow through the seasons and depending on the light etc.
Finally our cold weather has broken. I went out to trim back the roses and clems and am seeing little shoots of green! Also need to weed.Spring can't be too far off!
In the words of Gilda Radner"Never mind" pirl thanks for listening, it helps me alot to talk whats on my mind. The picture of me is about 6 years old, so I am a little wiser now.
ge1836, when you get your clematis this early, do you plant them in a pot since is still freezing outside?
My clematis order wont come until April or early May. When you order from Brushwoods you can choose when you want them to arrive.
We love hearing about your life, Etelka. I even received a DMail saying this was the best thread now on DG! Don't stop now!
Hopefully, we're all a little wiser than we were six years ago. I hope so!
My son always holds his breath when I visit him and he has company. He knows that I will tell them about his wild years and the things he had done. He said last time"that is why we only let her visit once a year.'
Just the truth mam, just the truth. Do they give away some prize for the best tread on DG?
No prizes, unfortunately, Etelka.
My son finds it hysterical when I recount his young years and the mischief he got into or the funny things he'd say and do. My granddaughter always found his adventures highly entertaining and yearned for more tales.
Thats funny. My kids reveal things they did that I didnt know about.
They are all over 50 so no punishments now.
However it is gratifying to see their children ignoreing them.
I often hear them say "I havnt heard form Alex or Margot.wonder whats going on?
My Sil left the house with GS's jacket on just because he missed his son and the jacket smelled like him.
I remember when DD went to Germany for a summer when she was sixteen. She had not been away from home that far ever. I slept with her pillow for the first 3 days.
I don't know if all the teenagers go trough the same phase, but he used to drive me crazy with his comments about me. Mom, are you going like that, mom can't you fix your hair, mom, please don't talk when my friends are arround, your with your accent and high pitch woice, everybody is looking to see who is talking. Mom , whay did you have to get a Escort, all my friends have nice big cars, here you are with this little on, please let me out on the corner, please don't come to school, it is not a requirement when you kid is in HSchool. The last 2 years I skipped going to school, I told him whatever you do, is yours, only if you get arrested, do not call me. The Lord is good, he has two boys, just like him, and he is sweating, because he knows what can happen.
Its "Payback" time
It's our job to live long enough to be a problem to our kids!
I know of one who succeeded at that but he was no relation to me!
I had so much "dirt" on my sisters that I swore not to divulge when my parents were still alive...if only I had capitalized on some of it...I'd be worth millions by now !
I got an email from Brushwood today in reference to when I wanted delivery. ( I thought I had clicked on that when I placed my order. Evidently, not.) I responded to Dan that he could ship mine when he deemed it appropriate for my zone and the condition of his stock. I'm not going to fret about it since he came so highly recommended. Actually, I was impressed that he took the time to ask !
Hee hee! It wasn't you, JD!
I'm sure you knew a lot but wouldn't burden your parents with any of it.
Dan is such a nice guy!
He does have good customer service. A true professional.
I went for a walk around the yard and my Omo hs leaves ready ti pop at the joints. I wa so happy to see that it is alive.
The snow is melting here. In a couple of days I will be able to walk in the yard.I dont care if its raining.
Here too Jo Ann. It looks like next weekend will be a gardening weekend. Yay!
I am so frustrated looking at jobs to be done and too much snow to do anything except make notes.
Winter is the time of dreaming...Spring the time of possibilities.
