It was found in Scotland where it is weird to find a spider with a splash of colour :)

It is inside a 1 pint glass and that may help to tell the size of it.

This is a funnel web spider *family Agelenidae) in the genus Tegenaria - see http://tinyurl.com/24wmrr9 for detailed information. Spiders in this genus include the largest native species likely to be encountered in Britain.
