Any experience with this east of the rockies?

i read that this should be grown at 7K elevation on one site - others do not mention this at all - any experience else where?

Concolor firs, the species and its many cultivars, are considered to be "the best fir for the Midwest and East, requiring less moisture than other western firs and withstanding heat, drought, and cold equally well" according to the expert Michael Dirr. I have planted many (of the species) for clients here in Indiana and have one of the cultivars, 'Blue Cloak' that I purchased at Gee Farm in Michigan. I've see many other concolor cultivars growing in St. Louis, Chicago, Hidden Lake Gardens (Michigan), and at the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C.

FYI: Rich's Foxwillow Pines Nursery (NW of Chicago) offers the species and fifteen cultivars.

thx hoosier - i saw this one on a holland site - my guess is below sea level there:)
