What your family's favorite Christmas cookie???

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

I was in the mood to make cookies today, but we have no white flower. So, I thought I had seen some recipes on the net for making cookies using a box cake mix. I found a few, and came up with this recipe and made them this morning. My recipe and a picture of my cookies are below. When everyone gets home from work, they will be gone for sure.

Easy Almond Cream Cheese Cookies

Cookie:
1 stick butter or margarine, well softened
1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 regular size (18-22 ounce) box any flavor cake mix
1/3 cup finely chopped almonds

Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
About ¼ cup milk

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix butter, cream cheese, eggs and extracts until very well blended. Mix in the cake mix and nuts until well blended.
Drop onto lightly greased cookie sheets with wet teaspoons keeping cookies uniform in size. Flatten each cookie slightly with back of wet teaspoon or wet fingers.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until bottoms are lightly browned.
Transfer baked cookies onto rack and cover with tea towels until completely cool.
In a medium size bowl, mix together glaze ingredients until smooth and drizzle or spread on top of each cookie.
Let glaze dry.

Yields about 2 dozen cookies.

Enjoy!

Sound yummy....and Debi, you make quite a selection! I made lemon cookies & fruit & nut no- bakes using the recipe you gave me, Pixie. The honey made them very sticky without the cereal....it is so close to my aunt's recipe, but not quite there.....still have to experiment.

Oh, No! Another delivery of home-baked treats from yet another kind and thoughtful neighbor. Today it was cranberry orange bars.......really moist. Oh No! Yesterday was pizelles, snicker doodles, buckeyes, and some sort of frosted dough ball with sprinkles on top......gosh, I'm sunk.

We had the neighborhood party a week ago.
Odd numbered houses brought appetizers, even numbers brought desserts.
I am eating frozen cookies, who do I think I'm fooling?

Thomaston, CT

LOL, Jo....freezing definitely takes away some calories! Jumper, I love those cookies....you've inspired me!

Gosh everything sounds so good! I finished the choc chip, oatmeal raisin and snickerdoodles, needed a break so came here!! Ricotta cheese cookies are next then the toffee bars if I feel like running to the store. I ran out of brown sugar.

WOW Ronnie!! Can I have just one please? LOL My dog is eyeing the 'cookies' in the jar :)

LOL Celeste you can have quite a few!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Me too? I've eaten everything else in our house, so I'd like to start in on yours, Ronnie!

Pixie - we may have to make a date with Robin to get sunk and drunk on sweets this summer. Anyone else want to join us? But then we'll have to join a 12-step program, you know. JoAnn - you're a definite since you've mastered the frozen sneak already. Usually, things don't have time to freeze when I'm in one of these temporary insanity frenzies. I don't think there are any other neighbors bringing sweets, so I'll dry out soon.

I make a walnut cresent cookie with a cream cheese dough that tastes excellent frozen!

IMHO, any cookie tastes excellent frozen. Less calories, too - right? lol

we hope to have the dancing lights fixed today.. the chips came in.. and now we have to test them out... so much easier doing that when Randy is hooking them up one by one.... now that we had to disconnect everything... we have to test what cord goes to what item.. and match them up to our list....
