I have 40 chickens but none of them are house chickens. Me and hubs make enough mess without adding a chicken into the mix. LOL I do have 1 little gray legged hatch game pullet named Parfait ( her mom's name is Sherbert) who likes to be handled. My youngest chicks, the 2 BO and 7 RSL are pretty gentle and don't mind too much being picked up. The others all just want to be fed.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

or Lord lets see what do I have??
8 Coronation Sussex Splits(am told when bred I will get full Coronation, Splits, and full Lights) great buy fairly cheep got straight run, ended up with 2 roo's and 6 hens. How perfect is that?? That will never happen again lol

20 Araucana now plus 2 new chicks so far. I sold Splash, Daddy Roo, Blue, WildChild, Tuffy & Monkey. Plan to sell Fugly & PT after she comes off the nest

2 Millie Fleur D'Uccle Roo's. May sell Peppy if possible unless I can find a suitable hen to match his coloring of Blk & white Millie

4 Blk Mottled D'Uccles- plan to sell one pr when they get another month older. Hatched 2 pr. Luv when that happens

2 Bantam Black Mottled Houdans hatched 1 pr yeah!!!!!

3 Silver Sebrights

7 Silkies now, sold the 4 chicks I hatched after I was able to find 2 more hens to keep my Randy Roo's occupied

1 Delaware young Roo and 12 eggs in bator

Still want Speckled Sussex, Russian Orloff, Gold/Red Brabanter

DH said tonight No More Pens!!!! I mean it Donna!! Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. But he didn't say I couldn't add on ROFL!!!!!!!!!

I plan to try to intergrate all the Araucana to one pen eventually if the dang Roo's would cooperate. When they are raised together there is no problem. I am hoping it will be the same for the 2 Coronation Splits and 1 Delaware Roo I have growing up together that are all the same age. Didn't work with the Marans once the younger Roo got big. Sure do want that cage to use for other chickies lol

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

You must have lots of small pens. I am trying to get all my standard chickens into one pen. I want to see all my game cocks and that would leave 1 smaller pen with the bantam trio. I get so tired of feeding and watering in all the small pens. It takes a lot of time.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Aviary is 17' W x 40' L x 8' T with about a 5' W x 10' L concrete pool with depth from 12" at the high end and 15" on the low end

Biggest Coop Area is 12' W x 12' L x 8' T with a 25' L x 8'W x 4' T run
The Coop Area and runs are divided into two the runs are equal on both side as I came out wide on the small coop side. One side of coop area is 8' W for my large fowl with a 4'T x 4' W x 8' L coop 4' off the ground with bottom all open and the smaller coop side for my bantams is 4' wide but has double decker 4' x 4' x4' coop

The medium coop is 4' x 4' x 4' and is 4' above the ground in a area 8' L x 8' T x 4' W, the ground area under the coop has 3 sides enclosed and front open where I put the food and water. The run part is 3' T x 4' W and 16' L

The Silkie coop and run is 6' W x 3' T x 16' L coop is 4' L x 6' W x 3' T

Other small pen for Sebrights and D'Uccles is 8 ' W x 4' T x 12' L with a 4' x 4' x 4' coop

I also just bought 2 usuable coop on Craigs List for 60 dollar that only need some minor repairs and he said he has some 14 mesh wire 4' x 30 ' I can have for 10 dollars. Said he didn't think I would need it buying the coops. Going to see about getting that tomorrow.

Eufaula I didn't mean to take over your thread hon

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Eufaula...ROTFL!!! Well I bake my birds poultry blocks and cookies for them to snack on..lol..

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Up here in the frozen north, chickens live outside. Babies are in an insulated building with 3, 250 watt heat lamps. Hens are in a room that is nice & tight, but no heat. They can also run outside, which they do. Waterers are thawed every morning.
Our count;
300 baby Gold Star layers.
20 mixed juveniles.
4 Gold Star hens.
1 pretty hen, unknown breed.
The five hens are kicking out 4 or 5 eggs per day.
House chicken ? Only in the frying pan!

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Wow At all tha Chickens!!!!! I know we all love every one of them too!!!
Yep the House Chicken thing was a have to that I had never done before! The Fall of the year cought up with me before I could make arrangements in the big Shop area ,out back! I need to set up a room with Electricity for the large brooder for my juveniles and babies! The only place available this year was my guest bedroom! I guess if I have guest this winter they will just have to share, LoL! =o)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

oh I can just see the look on companys faces when you tell them they will be sharing the guest room with the chicks

Ferndale, WA

OH Donna I forgot to tell you that I am a Covert Spy, I have made a copy of your plans and intend to black mail you or your DH Gets a Copy...ROTFLMBO...Hay Happy Thansgiving and I agree this is a great thread...

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

ROFL!!!! He ought to have that figured out by now. When He ask how much I paid for a chicken. I tell him what i pay for the bird but not the shipping. Hey he didn't say shipping. He just said how much did the chicken cost

Ferndale, WA

OH Donna your such a clever stinker!!! Now you have me worried...I Woooonder if you wife is anything like you...O My this could be costly...Shiver the thought. Noooo She wouldn't do that to me??? Would she...Please tell she wouldn't...

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Hay as Long as I have a income I will buy what I want within reason, well except when it comes to the Ducks. This year all my Natives should breed as they will be 2 yrs and I will buy the Federal Permit and be able to sell some hopefully. Probably as singles as they will all be siblings except for my Falcated Teal I have 2 sister and a unrelated male so could sell them as pairs
He has had 2 bass boats over the years and have had a big 21' boat for the last 10. Lots of Tournaments that he never won and have to release the fish to boot, the local monthly club tournaments fishing from Ala to La. and and and 3 days fishing trip. lots and lots of money he spent. Now is my time. Every time he starts fussing about what I have spent building the coops and aviary I just tell him it hasn't made a dent in what he has spent while I was working 60 hrs a week, nights and weekends. Now he works 60 hrs a week and I draw my disability and try to get a little enjoyment out the life I have been dealt while I can. I had the aviary built to where I can still care for my ducks if I end up in a wheel chair. He will just have to open the drain valve on the pool when I need to drain it.
Yes some people are sneaky to their spouse and put them in bankruptcy but I handle all the money and bills. I know what we have and what I need to have. He decide he wants a new T.V. and goes and buys one right after I sent house payment off. Do you think he asked me??? Nooooooooo. Donna has to run to the bank to draw money out of saving so the house note doesn't bounce grrrrrrrrrr. I have never ever been late on a bill or bounced a check. My bills come first, then groceries. If anything is left you can spend it lol and now is my time for spending a little. I also do a good bit of trading as you have seen

I'll get off my soap box now. Sorrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Donna ..YOU Go Girrrrrrl!!! LOL!!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Turn about is fair play. You deserve happiness and fullfillment even if it does not fir into anyone else's mold. We are all different. God made us that way.
