Okay Im a NUT!! When you have Baby Chickens Growing up in the Winter in an Aquarium because they dont have enough feathering to keep them warm....You keep them inside where it is...Right?
you have to give them excersize.....first you cover the floor or Rug with one of your best Sheets!
House Chickens!!
Oh well until I can get to the store and get more Batteries thats it for now... Camera went dead! I just got through fixin their breakfst treats too! I heated them up their favs... frozen mixed veggies with chopped Boiled egg! They went crazy! So funny....maybe ill have pics nest time!
Good morning Green!!!!!!
I made chicken diapers for someone who had show silkies..lol..tiny little boogers to put on too...LOL
Mooooooooodeeeeeeeeeeeeeene!! Hey Girl!!! Yep Ive thought about the Diapers but they are growing so fast right now that I dont believe I could keep up with the sizing!!!
Howdy!! Eufaula!! I am just now slowing down. Been so busy watching one of my woods get cleared out of trash trees..looks good too..watching deer eat my chickens food but that is ok..their mouths will be on fire from eating red pepper..lol..I made poultry blocks out of grains, whole oats, powdermilk, corn grits, and oatmeal. and after baking them..covered them in red pepper powder. to also help hens jump start the egg dept..
My place is looking batter and better as the year goes by. I had alot of damage from Hurricane Rita and Ike. I have a young man that don't mind coming out and working here for extra money...
The pic below is what I make as in diapers in diff prints.. Those show silkies were grown already and didnt mind using them..lol.. The owner has won several awards for her silkies..but not with the diapers on..lol..There is a tiny diaper I made out of Moo print for a lady who had a pet Serama who lived in the house with her..lol..bought few of some wild prints too so her and her bird went walking since I put a Dring on the diaper..LOL...
Eufaula your a nut, but a lovely nut I must say...LOL...Hay
Hi Moodene, good to finally hear from you again. I'm trying to figure out how those diapers work. Could you take a pic with a small bird to show is how they work? I will order some as I raise seramas and am interested if I can understand how they work...Hay P.S. How is your military son doing?
This is an awesome thread... LOL I cracked up at that picture of Spanky... Perfect!
I have a set of house Seramas here.. They better not be all roos... I just put them in a bigger tub.. and need to get a good sheet out for a play time!
Also, I thought Haystack was gonna fall over about the diapers, but instead he is interested!! I bout died laughing that he is gonna use them on his house Seramas.. What do you wanna bet Karen has diaper duty cause of his big hands not being able to adjust the diapers properly.. LOL LOL
Boy, those serama diapers will be tiny tiny. Can't wait to see this!
Moodene, it's so good to see you back! I'm glad things are going good for you. You have done so much for others, it's time your environment is nice again.
I love the diapers..

Well it took me few hours to figure it out..and 1 hen that would sit still for me..the one in the picture ..She was 5 1/2 years old before she passed away this year...I missed my cochin...still got her sister...
You're all tempting me to make Vivian (Silkie) a house chicken!! I know she'd love it since she runs to be held. But, my diaper changing days have been over too long to start it up again.... I think. You all are SO funny! I've been laughing till I cried!
LOL..mmm..Dont ya wanna just hold your cutie pie..come on..get her a diaper! ...heheheheh
Not to sound indelicate.. but after changing the diaper I'm sure her little bum would need washed off, so, no thanks LOL. But I know she would love being in the house since she loves to be held and always sits next to or walks under the dogs when we're outside, no fear of anyone or anything. She's such a good little girl and has been laying 5 to 6 eggs a week. She sure makes it easy to want to move her in the house which I think would be SOOO fun if it weren't for the diaper problem.
Eufaula that is too funny. Cover the living room floor and have chick races.
Annie I am with you. I have 2 I would like to be able to keep inside(Dudley & MsPeeps) but don't want to have to wash dirty bottoms
Modene I have missed seeing your name on here
My DS brought two Seramas in to be blow dried.. they didn't go inside during the storm.. LOL
Well, you could get a few diapers and let her in sometimes and see how that goes. She wouldn't need to be inside all the time, but maybe a few special days. Just a thought.
There is a video of a chicken in a diaper going down some carpeted stairs. It was really cute.
Chicken poop is not as bad as dog or cat poop! I have to agree about wiping them though, not sure I would like that.
Just depends on how dedicated you are and how much time and effort you would want to spend.
I was just pulling ya'lls leg..LOL...
I don't know but the thought of a chicken in diapers walking around the house does not much appeal to me.
It would be worth it to see the look on the face of the UPS man when he came to the door!
There are quite a number of videos if you search for "chicken diaper" or "House chicken". The chickens don't seem to keen on it at first.
There was a thread here not long ago of the dangers of having chickens in your house. You can get diseases, some even causing blindness. Not sure what all that was about, but it made me stop and think, especially since I bought those sick chickens that had been in with pigeons.
A well known and loved silkie breeder recently semi retired because of a disease he obtained from raising pigeons.
All things to consider.
Rita, we need to get on a letter writing campaign to your county commissioners about the advantages of having backyard chickens. Emails would be so simple, and hand written letters even better. Often they are just unware of the benefits, and the desires of the people to have them.
Chickens are so much nicer than dogs and cats as far as smell and noise go.
If you tell me what county you are in, I'd be glad to put in a good word for chickens. Not giving the name of this forum or your first name of course.
I'm sure there are tons of articles one could gather to present, even if anonymously.
More than likely there are other people in your county that would LOVE to have chickens too. They could be of help. We could even write the newspaper.
It is a city law not county. I am in Nassau County, on Long Island in New York State. Not willing to rock the boat so to speak in my city. Don't need them to know.
Ok city, sorry. I should have known that.
Hi everybody...This is Chickopea!! Thank you all for your concern and sympathy over the loss of my Husband, Natchez. Yes I was at a loss and I just do not know what I would have done without my featherless Mommy , Eufaula! She told me that I have been invited to dinner with her babies in the big house,, Yall come on you are invited too!
