Checked my new evergreens this weekend, and found all the new plantings had been nibbled by the deer. Even the dwarf hemlock--and my woods are FULL of wild hemlock, why did they want mine? I bought some bird netting and wrapped each tree in that. Hope that thwarts them.

Good luck. It must be terribly frustrating. I find that rabbits and deer seem to be attracted to newly planted shrubs, trees, even vegetables. Must seem more tender to them.
