Bernie is right I have never grown such good oniool.ns Dixondale rocks l
First 2011 seed catalog!
Oh, thanks for the link to Dixondale. Now I just have to figure out if I should be doing short day, long day, or intermediate. Moving around to different zones can be fun, but I often get myself confused over these little rules of thumb.
Texas would be short day.
LOL! Thanks! They have a nice chart on the website.....I just didn't look far enough.
I received about 3 dozen Seed Catalogs last year.
What a wonderful way to get through the Winter and those 'Winter Blues'. But to me it's too early to get into them right now...we haven't even had a frost in South Carolina. Let me do my Christmas Shopping first, for God's sake. :)
I always look forward to trying new varieties.
How about these "Rainbow Bell Peppers"?
Fiery Regards,
Pepper Joe
Great pictures of your peppers.
This year I was not able to have large size bell peppers. I don't know why ...
Maybe because it was so hot and no much rain ...
Do you have a variety of Bell Pepper that you recommend?
drthor, that's odd. I had a good pepper year, bad tomato year. I'm looking at more room for peppers this year. Might have been newbie luck, though....The bell that did the best for me was Yollo Wonder B, Improved. I'm not sure if that one is open pollinated. But it did well. I got the seed from Willhite's.
All pepper recommendations will be considered! I'm expanding the garden for next year! The chickens are busy producing more fertilizer even as we speak!
Thanks.
I had a fantastis tomatoes season ...
I like Purple Beauty. Mine weren't large but they were very prolific. I also like mini chocolate bell.
Got my Baker Creek catalog yesterday :). It's beautiful, and has already got me making a list (yes, I''ll be checking it twice) of the new things I want to try, and some old standards.
I do miss the old mat finish, recycled seeming paper style, though. The new one is almost too glossy for the Heirloom veggies to live in.
I got Baker Creek too, and I feel the same way about the glossiness of it. I also got Fedco Seeds, and I love their catalog and their seeds. I started right in circling stuff I want. And this is after I promised myself I was through buying seeds for next year. HA.
Not only does Baker Creek have the most attractive catalog out there, but they offer a an incredible number of lettuce varieties not found elsewhere. Since I grow over 50 different varieties each year, they get a lot of my business.
Yes, Baker Creek is so pretty. I wish mine would come.
I hope my BC comes soon.

Thanks for the link to Dixondale. I really like to do business with local companies whenever possible.
I got my Southern Exposure Seed Exchange catalog last week. Went online to place an order yesterday and they were sold out of some tomato and bean varieties I wanted to try. They must not stock much of some items.
Try Seed Saver's Exchange.
I finally got the Baker Creek catalog, 2 in fact, I have no idea why. SSE does have a great selection at very reasonable prices IMO.
I got two Baker Creek catalogs also. Seems a waste of money on their part, but I gave one to a close gardening friend so maybe it evens out.
Hope I get an extra BC. I can pass it on to a friend of mine.
I've got my onion plants from Dixondale. Planting them out next week at the Christmas break! Hopefully, I'll have BIG onions by next year.
Southern cooks don't go to the bathroom without onions, bell peppers, and celery/garlic...
Uh, it'll come to you... give it time....
I got it Gymgirl! Maybe because I eat a lot of them too :)
Great catch, HoneybeeNC!
Johnny's seed catalogue arrived yesterday - 205 pages to drool over!
Hurry up spring!
I drooled over Johnny's to the tune of $320.00. My favorite place to buy seeds.
Lol, that's a lot of drooling! And here I felt bad because I drooled over Fedco Seeds to the tune of $89.00.
I think we should start a group called : AAA seeds anonimus !!! ah ah
I got my Bakers Creek the other day. It's lovely. I just love to read about the veggies and dream of spring. It's been storming here for two days.
I still have not got my BC catalog. I ordered a Johny's today.
Just got Johny's as well. Still waiting for the 2011 Willhite catalog. I like to spread the drool! Between the seeds and the roses, I think need more that AAA seeds anon. And now I want to get started with my espallier project....throw AAA fruit trees in there too!
Oh, you Texas people are SO jumping the gun! Lucky you and Merry Christmas in the sun.
TGS came today
Ran across a really convenient list of vegetable seed catalogs with links to their websites:
http://www.garden.org/ediblelandscaping/?page=resources
That's terrific. (darn, wish I had thought of that)
Thanks for the link. I'm checking them out.
I see some on the list that you wouldn't want to buy from. Check them out on Garden Watchdog here on Daves.
Thanks.
My Territorial Seed catalog came in the mail Dec. 24th. It gets thicker every year.
Got Territorial, Burpee, and Jung today.
