Congratulations photo contest winners!!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Wow, the NE had a very strong showing. WC, it seemed I saw your name in many many categories. Pirl, your Omo picture should grace the cover of a gardening magazine. Wonderful, as were everyone's! We have a lot of talent roaming around this forum. Northeast Rocks!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

You were correct Venu, you did see my name many, many times...

- Just can't keep good things under wraps sometimes I guess, - annoying isn't it? (lol!!)

That's very nice, I like that! The grass obscures the shore just enough to make you want to come closer and see what's behind it. - The soft pastel colors of the sky don't overwhelm the pic, - very nice!

- Congrats! ☺

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Lovely photos, WC and Ric.

Don't forget your own runner up with that great red poppy, Louise!

Thomaston, CT

Yes, & Victor had some lovely shots, Ronnie, Allison, Pirl, also...what a nice showing for the Northeast photographers!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Congrats everyone. Venu I saw your name on one of those pics, too.
Pirl, I must say that your Clem pic was spectacular both the blooms and the pic.
Watercan, I saw your name many, many times. LOL Beautiful pics. Holly

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yes, thanks, my red poppy earned a runner up. I only entered that as an afterthought, go figure!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Ric did the same thing. It was the only pic he submitted and at the last minute, too. LOL Holly

Absolutely splendid! Good job, WC!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, btw, that handrail in the snow shot was very impressive Pirl!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, WC. Coming from you that means a lot.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I loved that shot too. I didn't realize that was yours Pirl. WC, you should frame and hang the duck shot too, it's magnificent!

Thomaston, CT

I agree! The reflections were just awesome.....

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, the duck shots were a matter of seeing a possible good shot and then investigating further, I literally had to go 'undercover' for those shots, (I say shots because I went crazy taking pics when I saw what I had in the preview, lol!!)

This was the shot I took when I saw there was the possibility of 'something more'...

Further investigation, wading in mud, and crouching a lot led me to this..
- That branch had been growing there for awhile and the lack of sunlight underneath stopped the grass from growing and provided a little bay that the ducks could find food in seclusion with some protection from possible predators.

With no food in hand to coax them, (I don't like to use food to entice an animal for a shot, unless it's my birdfeeder..). I remained a respectful distance and stayed as still as I could and snapped away. Some male, some female, multiple ducks, some have yellow reflections, some orange and then there's red...

one of the 'good' shots..

Just want to add Ducbucln's shot of the hummingbird was a great shot, and well worthy of first place. She consistently takes awesome pics of birds and I admire her ability as a photographer in that specialty.☺

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Wonderful, WC. Thanks for the lesson!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

lol! - my pleasure ☺

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Not sure how I missed this thread........could of sworn I left congrats to everyone on a thread, are there 2 threads?

Congrats to everyone who came in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd and anyone else who placed as runner ups! I've always said the N.E. forum is a treasure chest full of characters with talent!!

That poor duck got shot so many times, I'm surprised he's still swimming ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hee hee he!! So true!! A duck w/9 lives.....who would of thunk-it?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Hee hee! - Thank goodness they haven't been shot yet! lol!

I have several that land in my neighbors field every spring. The 'field' has a low spot and turns into a small pond every spring with the onset of April showers :)

Not nearly as nice as your pictures WC but I do love the color of the ducks themselves.
