Great photo, Resin. I loved the challenge of finding the Starling. Lower left, yes? If you say no, I will be up for many nights searching.... :-)

I found it too! Thanks for the new start Resin. You sure found alot of plovers for your photo. Nice job!

those kinglets are way too zippy, so that's a nice catch.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Red, I'd have loved to hear those robins and starlings!

Burd, thanks for correcting my warbler's name. I'd forgotten it had changed and will have to correct the name in my albums. Great shot of the nuthatch. Wonderful closeup of the gull. I've been watching the gulls here too, but I think there were more in your video. I love walking out on the deck before the sun comes up and hearing them on our lake.

Nanny, you did a great job on that kinglet!

I just spotted this House Finch at my feeder. Think it's an orange-variant and the first I've seen since last year.

Resin... Nice start for the new thread. Thanks! I see the one starling that everyone else sees, but is there one more? About two inches from the top of the full frame shot, and about 4-5 inches from the left? If not, then I am the one getting old! LOL!

Duc... Your "Butter-butt" is so cute! I love these guys and look forward to them at my feeders!

Reddirtretiree... nice shot of the Coots!

Burd... all of your shots are great, but that plump little White=breasted Nuthatch cracls me up! I think he's ready for winter! LOL!

Nanny... I think you did great catching that Golden-crowned Kinglet! They sure are beautiful!

Duc again... I really like that Pine Siskin!

Resin again... nice one of the heron! Glad to see new ones from other parts of the world since herons are one of my favorite groups!

Nice shot of the Golden-crowned Kinglet nanny! They don't sit still and the flitting blurs a lot of them. lol
Duc, nice shots! First time to see a mass of gulls like that for me. I grew up along the lake here... when I was young the lake was in a pretty bad shape...it has come a long way.
Resin, nice shot! Congrats on the sighting!
VARose, very nice set of the diff. eyes of the Owls!!
One shot ...and not a good one, the birds were too far away...but was able to id some.

Checked back on the original (quite a bit larger; that is just a bit of darker stone / seaweed. But I did find two more Starlings! Take a diagonal from top right to bottom left, and go a quarter of the way down from top right, and there's two tightly together there.

This is one of the resident squirrels we have here he stopped by for a snack. My husband got that close, he did not use a zoom lense, he has a way with animals.

This little lady visits our feeder every summer, she does not go far from our place. And she will drive off any hummingbird that tries to eat off our feeder. We miss her terribly.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the many sparrows that are around here, we have Chickadees, Nuthatches, Finches, sometimes we get the different winter birds, we had a female Cardinal today, we have had a Northern Flicker a couple of times. But I would like to know how to get rid of the sparrows. We feed the birds a mixture that we got at Wal-Mart, it has a whole lot of different seeds and things in it. We mix it with a scoop of Sunflower Seeds and mix it up. If any one has any ideas, please let me know.

Nice Collection, Dave. Blue Jays are so fun to watch. They aren't really bullies for me here, but they ARE loud.

KC, not too much you can do about the house sparrows. They are everywhere and will eat whatever. I only feed sunflower, thistle, peanuts and suet and they will eat all that good stuff. At times I have bazillions, and at times a bit less than that. (ha). What I DO practice is not letting them have a place to nest in my yard. Since they are not native, I can remove any nests they are building. But I STILL have so many since I'm in town, lots of places for them to build. You COULD hope that neighbors feed them stuff they like better. lol.

Norman, OK

Folks like Dave who have Bluebirds know there is something you can do about HOSP. If you are going to attract BB's, you need to have a plan to control sparrows. If you don't, sooner or later they will kill your BB's. I have a trap from sparrowtrap.net and keep it baited with white millet. Rarely does anything get in it other than a sparrow. If it happens, I just release them. Some may not have the stomach for sparrow control, but man has so upset the balance of nature, I feel I need to do what I can to protect native species.
