That is great advise, pippi. There was a fire here recently. I live in a townhome development,. People had frozen pipes and maintenance, in their infinite incompetence, tried to unfreeze them with propane torches - of course they didn't have fire extinguishers handy. They ended up burning 6 people out of their homes. It could have been me. Someone near me also had frozen pipes. Luckily, she woke up after the fire had already been started. I am re-evaluating my home insurance.... It is also a good idea to have valuables like jewelry and important papers accessible if you have to exit quickly in case of fire, flood or other emergency.
