Tommie: I have a Mac laptop and just recently I found under the edit button in the menu at the top of the page ⤴ a section called "Special Characters". Unfortunately there aren't very many neat little character/icons to choose from.☹ Before my laptop crashed and I lost everything last year, I had a link to a website where there were tons of neat characters I could use. Now I have no clue how to find it again, the one's I've found are for PC's and are not compatible with Mac's. ☹
If you go here it will tell you how to make some things with your number pad.

On Windows XP,those characters look like squares.Have you checked your character map?There are a few different things there.
