Thanks everyone. It's taken more time than I thought it would to complete. I really hope that this person likes it.
Jamie: Very nice terrarium, great job! There is a Terrarium Forum here on DG: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/terrariums/all/ but I think it's active only sporadically. I think it would be great to have a thread here on this forum showing our AV/Gessie Terrariums ... or in my case, a few that hold non-gessie plants.
meag: The rules state to mail our package by the 15th, so there's still time. Even if you can't get it out until later, don't worry ... it's still a gift of the holiday season and the recipient will appreciate it.
Thank you ladies for understanding. Would be kinda "unfair" for the last one to know before the pkg. arrives. Yes?
It'll work out just fine.
Growing under Glass -- that would be nice. I agree
Melanie this is fun, please don't let it get stressful. Take your time. I sent mine out a little early because someone in our family who lives out of state is ill and I didn't know if I would need to travel. Everything else it seems I'm getting done at the last minute! Enjoy the holiday and the trimmings! tish
absolutely,
I sent early because I knew i wanted to bake a bunch of cookies like 10 diff kinds for gifts and the kids are coming. I made a baking book for them a few years ago and now I try to add new pages as I Bake and refine other recipes. I knew I'll have quite a bit of Company, they are staying a week and we love our lunches and dinners. Etc.
It'll work out..... Helene
Whoo Hoo!!!! It will go out this weekend!!! Thanks everyone for being so kind and waiting.
When all the pkgs are received it's ok to reveal and thus this is zippered up next week.
GREAT all around
I've been tracking the package I sent, and it has arrived at it's destination. ^_^
Yep it has!!! I picked it up a litle bit ago and LOVE everything!!! I will post a photo and details in a bit--as soon as I find the USB cord for my camera-- or email to myself from my cell phone (no one can ever accuse me of being organized). Thanks so much Lin! You are the Best Secret Santa ever!!
Lin, I apologize for the quality of the pic-- still looking for that usb cable... My Santa sent me: A beautiful rainguage with a bird motif. Pot holders and dish towels with bird motif, a Humming bird ornament, an adorable handmade wreath, fuzzy Christmas socks, a scented coaster, notepad and pen, homemade Banana nut bread (absolutely wonderful, munching as i write) An adorable garden plaque that I intend to put on the outside of my new gh--soon as the siding is on and a Santa full of chocolates ^_^ Thank You Santa Lin!!
Ooohh- that's nice! I love Banana nut bread. This is fun. Thanks for getting it together for us Helene.
Tommie: So glad you liked everything! I've been baking a lot of banana bread the past couple of months. I wasn't sure how it would travel but I got the tip from my youngest sister (who is a fabulous cook), to freeze the bread shortly after it cools, and to remove it from the freezer right before packing the box. She says it travels well that way? I'm going to be baking this weekend too ... a couple of different kinds of cookies, banana nut bread, pumpkin bread, cream cheese pound cake, and home made cranberry sauce. I give these in gift baskets to family, friends and neighbors.
I received my wonderful package from Jamie yesterday. She sent me a beautiful hand made Pine Cone Ornament. I sure wish I had the patience to do something crafty like that! She also sent holiday kitchen towels, scented soaps, a pair of cozy socks, and an oh soo cute little mini AV (Optimara "Little Sapphire") that I hope I can keep alive! Jamie, thank you so much for these great gifts, it made my Christmas really special!
Helene: This was a lot of fun, so thank you so much for hosting this wonderful swap. It makes the holidays a bit brighter!
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season with time to reflect on all that is important in your lives, time to spend with friends and family (even if it's only a loving feline or canine companion), and I wish you all peace and prosperity for the coming year.
((((( Hugs ))))) & Blessings to you all,
Lin
ladies, i believe we are still missing some......i will wrap it up when i know all is well. HD
It's in the mail!!! Finally!
This was really a lot of fun and I'm so glad I joined in the Secret Santa Swap ... look forward to next year!
it looks like we are bringing this together by due date. Ladies you are wonderful peeps.
Love that word.....I mean peoples.
Helene, I like that word peeps too! It makes me think of young chicks ... and I'm not so young anymore, LOL so it's kinda nice! ^_^
makes me think of marshmallow easter chicks ^_^ I like it too!
Ditto ^_^
I am a word person, Love words. I'd take the dictionary to bed when I learned english and long thereafter. All these new abbr. come from texting...
My kids use this all the time, and you just don't ask your 50 yr. olds what are you saying? They know it all by now, so you don't ask.
At first I also had to think of Easter, the little chicks.
My newest is "Potatoes in their jackets"
Well tomorrow is D-day for the secret Santa and I think every one should have their gift/s this week. Check here I'll have a little surprise for you. An award for participating so to speak.
LOL .. I don't think I've ever heard that saying "Potatoes in their jackets"! Very cute! I roast red skinned potatoes in their "jackets" but just never thought of it that way.
I've never gotten "into" the texting thing, just don't care for trying to type on such a small phone and forget about trying to figure out all the abbreviations!! When we got new cell phones a few months ago I had my husband call ATT to have them block texting. My youngest sister and some of my nieces and nephews text all the time and I have a good friend that loves to text ... I would get text messages and have to have someone decipher them for me because I couldn't make heads or tails out of what they were saying! ^_^
Why text when you can call? So much easier don't you think?
Oh I love a good conversation and it is almost non-existing. I talk to my 2 daughters often, it used to be everyday, but as they get older and have their own issues it becomes less. It seems we only talk when we are happy. It should be the other way around. All 3 of us are very competitive peeps and don't like to air our dirty linens. We don't like gossip among us only when it's the extended of the Fam.
Melanie don't forget the "sun Bonnet sue"
Oh Helene, it is a shame you and your daughters don't talk so much anymore but I understand how life sometimes gets in the way of the important things. I wish my dear mom were still here so I could have conversations with her. We used to talk on the phone all the time. (Actually ... I still have conversations with her, it's just that she's not right here in person to answer me, LOL.) My youngest sister (8 yrs younger than me) lives in North Ga. and we were always real close, we would talk on the phone for hours with calls sometimes beginning at 8 p.m. and we'd still be on the phone at 1:00 a.m., but things have changed in her life the past few years and we aren't as close as we used to be ... rarely seem to talk anymore. She stays really busy and the distance has seemed to grow wider, but, I realize that life has it's twists and turns, changes etc. Now it seems my oldest sister (who's only 9mos 3 wks older than me LOL) and I have become closer. She lives in S. Florida and we don't get to talk often because she still works full time ... but our friendship has gotten stronger as sisters the past few years.
that is exactly right...We'll walk when all the gifts are received... next couple of days.
It's funny.....(but not really) how we all seem to lose personal contact with others as time goes on.It is so much easier to keep in touch by email, texting, etc.)I so seldom write letters anymore and since I have to deal with 4 phones at work,I hate them too, although sometimes it seems I really need to hear the sound of someones voice.
Lynn
Lynn, I do understand. My oldest sister works in the insurance field and has a phone to her ear all day long and is also on the computer all day long with work related stuff, so she doesn't want to deal with phones or computers after she leaves work ... understandable ... I remember those days well! I feel very blessed that I don't have to work anymore, and I know how important it is to have peace and quiet at the end of a busy day.
Holiday Greetings! My package arrived Thursday! Sorry I couldn't post earlier, I had a party Thurs eve then Friday the computer connection was iffy at best. Guess its the weather. I'm posting now hoping I can get this typing finished while the connection still holds.
Melanie painted beautiful flowers on a glass cutting board! That means she had to paint "backwards" or reverse, because you would usually paint the background of the flowers, then the details...for the flowers to show thru glass, she had to paint the details first! Wow, really talented Mel!! Will be awhile before I can use it, ha, cause right now I'm too busy looking at how pretty it is! ...and can't bring myself to use it just yet.
And Lots of pretzles...I love pretzles! I really do. Now the caramel candy could be a problem as my husband likes them too, so I may have to hide some! My christmas tree has a lot of handmade ornaments...every year I make a bunch to give and I keep the extras for my tree; so the ornament will fit right in there too.
Thanks again Mel! This has been a lot of fun! I'm sorry you were worried about wheather it had arrived or not...I apologize for not being able to let you know sooner.
Take good care! tish
Oh Tish, that is so pretty, I think I'd have to display it on a wall and never use it for fear it would get stained and then the flowers wouldn't show through! Great job Melanie, I really admire y'all who have talent. I can't even draw a straight line and even had trouble with trying to paint stencils once, I can't even imagine trying to paint in reverse, that must take tons of patience!
Yumm ... don't ya just love Werther's Caramel's, they are the best! I love caramel, whether chocolate covered or plain ... luckily for me my husband is not a caramel fan so I don't have to hide them like I do other chocolates!
Again, Helene ... Thank you so much for hosting this Holiday Swap, it really was a lot of fun!
MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone!
So this wraps up this exchange
Ladies thank you for being precise, acurate, on time and extremely creative and I think generous. Melanie just GEourges. So creative. I do hope you'll paint the watering can as your time permits.
As a thank you I'll share a yugoslavian Walnut pillow cookie recipe, for those who want. E-mail me so I can get your e-mail and will forward it in PDF form. Again those who want. I know not every one has the need to bake. Again a big fat hug and thank you.
hmdbrew@aol.com
Thank YOU helene for organizing this!! the cutting board is gorgeous!!!
Helene: Oooh, I want that recipe! I've got so much baking to do and can't seem to get motivated today! I did make my youngest sister's recipe for Cranberry Sauce and made a recipe I got from a co-worker years ago for Chocolate Cashew Crunchies ... so easy, no baking required. But, I have a few cookie and breads I bake every year for Christmas gifts for family, friends and neighbors ... gotta get busy the next couple of days!!
Will send you an e-mail shortly!
Helene: Oh my goodness ... those look awesome!
Yes, little lemon, little cinnamon. Should be dusted with cinnamon flavored 10X sugar. I do not . too much cinnemon.
Helene: I got the two recipe's ... Thanks so much!
Looks delicious!!
mrsbonniewow, where is everyone, no post for some time. whats up???
