ROFLMBO Connie! (Re: Lin Likes everything, Dislikes nothing! Really laughing about that one. But, yeah, I'm pretty easy to please!

I like that idea. Everyone interested could give ideas on this thread of their likes/dislikes etc. just so we can get an idea of our buddy's interests. I like that idea ... and keeping it a secret, except since Helene is the hostess she will know who got her name since she has to do picking of buddies.

Helene: Those ornaments are wonderful! Did you make them? Gosh I wish I had some talent to actually make something by hand. I used to be a teensy bit crafty in my younger days, but I've gotten so lazy with each passing year ... and my attention span is that of a gnat!!

Aspenjocop - how did you know

Plantladylin - yes I made the ornaments - showing posibilties as gift. hindsight not exactly cheap to make.

Great tutorial on the Pine Cone Ornaments ... hmm, I wonder if I could find the patience to try one? It looks a bit time consuming so knowing me I would begin the project and then it would get shoved in a closet somewhere ... to be found in ten years or so! ☺

HI! I've been away visiting family out of state and no internet. Yes Helene and I have gotten to know one another quite well from being paired as her "secret santa" last year. I'm so glad we've become quite good friends because of it. At the time neither of us knew how involved in african violets we each were! It was really fun to make up the box and find things to put inside. We were asked to answer some questions, like favorite color, hobbies, special interests, etc so we would have an idea what to put in a holiday box to send to someone we really didn't know very well. Another lady was picked to send me a box and it was amazing how everything was just like she really knew me and what I would like...just like it was for Helene to receive my box. I got a scented candle and candle holder, tree ornament, handmade holiday apron, handmade quilted patchwork potholer (it was the sewing and quilting forum, ha), a beaded lanyard, a beanie baby bear with a violet on it (and she didn't even know I grew violets! ha), and many other little things. This is so much fun. Everyone who participated had a really fun time with it...especially the posting of pictures of what we got from who and comments from one another...it really brought us out posting and sharing, it was great.

Good idea Helene, I think this is just what we need here this year. Instead of a sewing/quilting gift theme, it will be a gardening theme! And last year, I didn't work with a cost in mind....I just found things here and there that I just wanted to put in the box,...sort of like you do when you make a gift basket.

I hope everyone joins in!
