What kind of bug is this??

This guy has been lingering around our front yard the past couple of days...what is this?? It has a fang or something of the like coming out of the front of his body.

This is a wheel bug (Arilus cristata; Hemiptera/Heteroptera: Reduviidae). They are general predators on other small arthropods and thus usually considered as beneficial; but treat with caution, as they can deliver a very painful 'bite' with their proboscis if mishandled.
