Nothing gets in.. after I built the hoophouses. I laid down 3 feet of 2 x 2 welding wire all around..1 foot up and nailed down..the rest is hidden in the dirt...plus my great pryenees -Babebera keeps alot of them at bay along with my watch turkeys..lol..so I dont really have a problem with predators..just human ones who across my land without asking..aarrrggghhh....them dingbats anyway...
Getting my old Ugly Hen Houses ready for Winter!
Did I miss the hoop houses??
I can take pics of mine when the sun decides to come up this morning..I get up at the crack of dawn..lol...Me and Babebera go to the henhouse and let out the ladies but before I do that..need to really catch 2 roos I need to go in their house..lol..they know I am watching them to catch them..lol
I definitely need a Babera!! I had another sad encounter last night sometime! I know it had to be Canine of some type....More on the Serama thread! Im so sad today!
Eufaula you could always put a dog crate inside a coop.. and close it up at night. I have a crate that I wrapped in hardware cloth and not even a mouse can get in! LOL I had to have a place for broody moms that was safe.. I think I have a pic somewhere.
No pic of that one, but here is the Playhouse coop I built.. it's been totally predator proof and safe..
For Seramas, it's a little easier cause it can be smaller.. I'll dig up a picture from somewhere.
Even one of those plastic dog crates would work.. They will learn to go in it at night, even if they prefer to be up high and roost, they will get used to just having a warm place with shavings to sleep in.
I love that ZZ do you have plans??
Love the Playhouse coop. It is very pretty.
Thank You ZZ! I just love the Playhouse coop! Yes I have a small Kitty Litter box with a lid that I put into my 6x3 foot Brooder/ Rabbit cage! It has 3 foot legs and is all hardware Cloth. Fine for broody Hens on eggies and young chicks. I tried raising some older birds in it but ...MESSSSSY!
