I have never seen a spider so BIG in my life (well except when I lived on the east coast) I now reside in Southern California and saw this big orange/brown/red spider on my wall.
Here's a view from the top abdomen, bottom, and a sad attempt to capture the eye pattern. The body is about 3/4 cm or 7.5 mm long (not including the palps or legs)
Thanks everyone!

What the HECK is this orange spider?
It could be in the family Tengellidae - see http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=8780 for a California example. It has no common name that I am aware of, and does not appear to be dangerous to humans.
