Is everyone OK?

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Lisa, Dave & Trish and other Southerners - Thought about you a lot and wondered about the storms that went through your areas - so I hope you are all OK and that every thing has calmed down. Sorry about your greenhouse D & T but looks as though you put that to rights! God bless.

The winds were strong last night, but never did rain prior to my falling asleep. I woke up at 5:30 to rain pounding on our window. We received the brunt of the storms this morning. Now it seems to have passed, and the sky is just overcast with an eerie glow. Anyone else have this?

Dave - I see that people lost their lives in this storm, I think it was in Oklahoma. It is very sad!

I don't know about Oklahoma, but I heard that Little Rock was hit really bad. Trish and I were discussing last night how wierd it is that we're getting this fierce weather so early in the year. Normally this stuff doesn't get real bad until May and June. Trish thinks that this means we'll have a mild-weathered summer.

The skies are threatening rain right now, but none yet :-). Really don't need/want any either! Lisa

The storm hit here (middle Tennessee) around midnight, screamed through and left as abruptly as it came. I've heard there was a tornado in Rutherford County (which is where we live), but it doesn't seem that it touched down - more damage from straight winds than anything else.

Ironically, we lived 15 years in "tornado alley" (Oklahoma) and never really came close to danger except the storms that made the national news in Enid a few years ago - that front was making a beeline for our little town and it was the first last and only time we actually got the kids out of bed (at 1:00 am), put on our clothes and had the understairway closet cleared out and ready to head in with a flashlight and radio. We've experienced the worst weather when we've visited relatives here in Tennessee; hopefully now that we're living here again, we'll have the same luck we had in Oklahoma.

It was beautiful weather yesterday and today - lots of sunshine, warm, and a little wind (but not too bad.) Hope it stays until spring really arrives (but I know it probably won't. Oh well! :0(

Oh I'm sure glad we're out of Oklahoma! We lived in Altus (south west corner of the state, right smack dab in the middle of the famous "Tornado Alley") for 4 & 1/2 years....had MANY tornado sightings and the worst storms I've ever encountered except when Hurrican Hugo hit in SC, Sept 1989.

I sure don't care for the Jersey drivers, but I am awful glad I don't have to put up with that kind of weather anymore either! I really like the 4 seasons here and even though it may snow, it's better than dealing with the almost constant threat of tornadoes!

I'm glad that those of ya'll living in the south are safe!
