CLOSED: What is this tiny red bug?

Is it good or bad? They gather in huge groups under a maple.

They look like immature Eastern Boxelder Bugs, Boisea trivittata. They're not bad insects. Apparently the adults consume plant juices from maple, while the nymphs may feed on seeds, so that would explain where you found them.
