It is on a variegated golden dew drop bush(duranta).

There are several species of sphinx moth caterpillars that can have this general color pattern. As the 'horn' appears quite rough, it might be a rustic sphinx, Manduca rustica - see http://tinyurl.com/26yjv9t
Thanks, that is exactly what it is. The horn is textured the same.
