At first I thought he was carrying a leaf, but the picture showed it to be a small moth (small, maybe, but bigger than spidy). There was no web, so I am assuming it's some kind of ambush spider (I always thought they were much larger). The spider was only about 5/8 of an inch and even though carrying prey, it moved very quickly. I know it's a small picture, but would appreciate any input on its ID. Thanks.

Looks like a jumping spider to me.
It is indeed a jumping spider (family Salticidae); it is in the genus Phidippus; likely Phidippus audax, a very common and widespread species - see http://tinyurl.com/dxkmyj
