Please help me identify this spider. Won't be able to sleep!

Hey all! How are you? I found this guy on my front porch! I have never seen a spider like it! I live in a residential area in Los Angeles (Glendale, CA). Any ideas? Is it poisonous?!

This is an orb weaving spider (family Araneidae); possibly in the genus Eriophora - see http://tinyurl.com/24s9rcc for an example. Regardless of its specific identity, all orb weavers are harmless to humans. Like the vast majority of spiders, they technically are venomous, but they are incapable of inflicting a dangerous bite.
