Is this a faded Common Blue Butterfly? Seen in Dorset today.

Very difficult to be certain, given its condition. Other possibilities include the holly blue, Celastrina argiolus - see http://tinyurl.com/29zgnus for an image. You also might check out the page at http://tinyurl.com/274g3ak

Don't know if it helps but it was very small, only 2-3 cms across.
