CLOSED: Please ID this spider for me

Riverside, CA

I have a green spider in my flower garden. It has brown & white markings on its back. Do you know what it is & is it poisonous?

Sinks Grove, WV

It could be a lynx spider (family Oxyopidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/27rgtn6 for an example. These are active hunters that do not spin a capture web, and generally are considered beneficial visitors in gardens. Like the vast majority of spiders they are venomous, but their bite is not dangerous to humans; see the 'sticky' on spider bites at the top of this forum.
