propagation of succulents

Lake Jackson, TX

I have a question about watering a succulent after you break off the stems and put then in a pot of soil, vermiculite, sand mix ..do you water them in after you plant them or wait till about 3 weeks..I have 12 of them in pots ,but scared of rot..Please answer..soon thank you.

I'm no expert, Gingerose, but I've had real good luck taking a cutting, letting it dry out overnight and sticking it in damp medium the next day. Guess I've always made a sharp cut beneath a node rather than breaking off a slip, that's just what I do. Since overwatering has always been a problem for me I try really hard not to water again for a couple of weeks. Hope someone with more experience can give you a more complete answer.

I would go to the Cactus and Succulent Forum. There are many experts there. They will know.

Gingerose, what a sweet name. Start a thread like you did here. Someone will jump in. Did you Google, "How do you propagate a succulent? That site has not let me down yet.
