Texasbigleaves, thanks again!!
What are you feeding those plants? They are all outstanding!

RachelLF, I know that you will have a name for that Philo. in no time at all. You are a good plant detective!

T.S. Hermine has blessed us with sweet, gentle tropical rain. It is so delightful and has been raining since dawn. Now it's time to throw out some fertilizer. Hopefully, I will get a little more growth from my EE's before winter.

Well.. they are all so lovely... I don't see why I have any plants that aren't variegated.. well I do know... I can't resist them... perhaps next garden.. but then I've said that gardens ago.. and i must have got many 1000's of plants that wern't.... since then... so perhaps it isn' t necessary to require that of them... love them so... though..
@ 4 o'clock is Yesterday Today and Tomorrow.. the baloon flower is @ 8 o'clock.. and the verbina pelted with spent brug blooms in in back.. being close to red..

Yes, Texas, what are you feeding them and how often. I have two Alo, Borneo Giants. The one in the pot is doing quite well, however, the one by the lake is barely hanging on. HELP!

Gordonhawk, I like your picture, it keeps your interest for quite a while. My YTT Magnifica has been flowering sporatically for most of the summer as well.

Happy_1, Maybe you can re-pot the Borneo Giant growing down by the lake, to save it. We have a few more months of growing season left.

Good Morning!
So far we are up to 4.4" of rain with more to come!!
This is a Purple Allamanda or Rubber vine, that has been blooming for a while. It came from phughes as a 6"seedling. I am thoroughly enjoying this plant. Thanks Patty!!

oooo, prita, can you start me a cutting? I love that. I have to go back through the threads, I know we were talking about trading something and I did not write it down.

Red Oak, TX

GAgirl1066, I will be happy to start you a cutting!! If memory serves me correctly, I promised to send you a Golden and a Variegated Crinum. I am letting them grow a little bigger before mailing them. If it was some other plant, please LMK.

This is a old friend. Variegated Pineapple.

Nope, that was it, thank you so much, but there was something you wanted from me. Do you remember? Love the pinapple too! You have some of the neatest things.

Blackshear, GA

Who has or knows anything about the chocolate vine? I bought one this weekend and don't know a thing about it. It said it was hardy for my zone. so I hope so. Does anyone have it planted in the ground that is in 8B?

GAgirl1066, are you are asking about Akebia quinata (chocolate vine)? If so let me know.

Rita, good to read your area is still getting some rain and that is a very pretty variegated Heliconia.

Blackshear, GA

Yes Rachel, that's it. Do you have it?

Cyclones (or call them hurricanes or typhoons if you prefer) are nature's way of redistributing water and warmth from the tropics to the temperate areas. It's good if they're not accompanied by very destructive winds, but of course you never get the choice.

Here's a few photos from my garden taken during the past week. This is a small banana which has purple upright flowers, soon I hope. It's produced 4 pups, 3 of which are nearly the same size as the mother. The mother is starting to get smaller leaves, so a good sign it's going to flower soon.

This fern in a hanging basket is getting bigger all the time, and better looking all the time. No idea what it's called.

Seeds on one of my small understorey palms, Arenga hookeriana. Despite its small size it has beautiful, large fish-tail leaflets.

Plants of my new garden bed in my rainforest garden surrounding my dam. One of a number of different coloured Dwarf Impatiens.

Have also put in one of the larger New Guinea Impatiens. I remember being impressed by them when I was trekking in Papua New Guinea last year.

GAgirl, the chocolate vine grows everywhere here in my part of Va. so you may want to watch where you plant yours. I deem it rather invasive but on a positive note the blooms are beautiful in the Spring. I wish you would have asked before you paid money for one;-)

Tropic, that fern is gorgeous!

Thanks Rachel, it started as something tiny coming up in another plants pot.

Was having trouble uploading photos (after that first lot) so gave up. Hoping it's all resolved now.

There's a couple of water containers with water plants in the new garden bed.. This is a Lasia spinosa, a water plant sharing its 'pond' with some Cyrtosperma. A look at the stems gives you a good idea of where the name "spinosa" comes from.

Oh well, it was on sale. We just bought 100 acres, so I will make sure I plant it where it can expand some. So I am assuming yours is in the ground, so it definately should be hardy where I live.

noonamah, Australia

I was hesitant at first buying this plant, it's a Peperomia species. I have a Peperomia which grows like a weed and I've had a lot of trouble trying to get rid of it. But the one in the photo doesn't spread, so they claim.

I got a few different types of Begonia, but don't know what types they are. One of them got jumped on by a kangaroo and doesn't look like it's going to recover. This one has been growing the best.

A larger Begonia which always seems to be flowering.

Thumbnail by tropicbreeze

Another Begonia which, although still small, I think grows fairly tall.

A Piper magnifica I've had languishing in a pot for ages. Now it's in the ground I'm hoping it'll put on some good growth. It's already getting some new leaves.

Don't know the name of this fern. The label when I bought it read "Fern". I believe it's one of those hybrids, but looks quite nice.

These are small Chamaedorea metallica palms.

Another NOID. A low growing, sprawling herb/shrub that flowers prolifically and apparently likes shade.

I have it too, but mine grows in part sun/shade....with the sun being the hot afternoon sun. It's hardy for me here too.......

Red Oak, TX

GAgirl1066, thanks, you were going to try to start me a few cuttings from your noid deep red hibiscus plant.
I have the chocolate vine as well and love it!!

This Canna has been blooming since spring.(it is a keeper)

RachelLF, we ended up getting 5 1/2" of sweet rain, a few broken banana plants and shade cloth blown off but nothing too bad. It has put me back in the gardenng spirit!!

This is Philo.Variegated Domesticum. Can you see the Mantis on it?

Tropicbreeze, thanks for the tour of your place and introducing me to a few new plants. The Metalica Palms and the Piper Magnifica caused me to become somewhat inquisitive.
The last picture is dreamy. Thanks.

mjsponies, do you have the Justicia betonica, Squirrel Tail shrimp plant? I sure would like to know the secret in getting them to bloom.

This is the $6 banana from Lowe's, with a few pups already!!
