Seed Collection and Plant Propagation So Far

Morrisville, PA(Zone 6b)

I have not as yet tried to harvest any regular impatien seeds.

I am overjoyed in harvesting some seeds from New Guinea Impatiens.

Teri, were you successful in harvesting Blushing Susie?

No blushing Suzy seeds yet, Mary. I'll probably order some on e bay and get enough to share as seeds and plants for some of the winter and spring swaps.

I would like about 6 seeds of Blushing Susie ..... I am planning on doing winter sowing.

I probably will be asking Critter for considerable input in this endeavor.

Sheeesh....Summerhill Seeds has 10 seeds for about 4.00.

that is totally outrageous!

For all my DG buddies--

I have about 50 different seeds to share....just for postage reimbursement....

I need to update my Trading List...but it is still about 90% up to date...pictures attached to most of them.
I have gathered a few more seeds this season. Need to updaate!

I am also going to be cutting back my 3 Brugs as it is now getting close to having to bring them in.
They need to be cut back as I have very little space in my basement.
I have a beautiful, NOID pink Brug--hardy grower and bloomer--and also a Dr. Seuss....(Yellow/peach)--
the most fragrant of all!

Please D-mail me if you are interested in any Brug cuttings....ASAP! Or--all the cuttings will go to trash.
NO hurry of the seeds....Anytime before end of February of next year will be OK

Here is the pink Brug.....

And--here is the Dr. Seuss.....The most fragrant of them all...

Won't have too many cuttings of this available--as it is fairly new....
Still--I have to cut it back to bring it in....

Hello, my name is Crit and I'm a 'seed stealer' ..... LOL I've dead-headed and took the seed, picked up pieces of plants I knew I could root that had broken off and were laying on the greenhouse floor, etc.. My best friend use to give me a bad time (kiddingly of course, because she went WITH ME) because I would go to some of the old country cemetaries out on the dirt roads and 'tend' to the flowers there by thinning some of the iris and peonies. Hey, I was doing them a FAVOR!

I'm not from the Mid-Atlantic but the Mid-West. I am looking for seeds or plant starts of things I don't have, so I will be eavesdropping on your all. :-))

Gita ....... I loved the story of your endeavor looking for Blushing Suzy! Make me literally LOL. What a hoot.

Anyway, I was wondering about starts of your 2 brugs and some seeds? I've moved to a new house so I now have a whole new 'blank canvas' to work with in landscaping. I'm thrilled. I would really appreciate getting seeds from you. We can do a trade, or you can check out my sparse 'have' list. I'm open to about any kind of seeds

I haven't collected any seeds yet but I will be going out and getting some of the Caster Bean seeds and the Hyacinth Bean seeds. I haven't found any BS seeds either but there are tons of flowers on the plant right now I might try to capture some.

Patti--

I got your D-mail....will communicate with you there...Gita

I am covering seed pods of New Guinea impatient inside a small zip-lock bagget.

That's awesome merry. I collected some seed from my cypress vine by using pieces of panty hose. I cut out a square and wrapped it around the pod, then tied it on with a twistie. It lets the air get to it to help them dry out, but keeps them contained.

I've never had good luck with the NGI. I LOVE them .... but I think I love them to death..... literally. They look pretty then all of a sudden they start going down hill, until there is no hill left. What is the secret to them?

Hi all. I wanted to let you know, I have a bunch of Purple Wandering Jew in 2 whiskey barrells (I use it in front of other plants to trail over the rim) that is going to freeze this winter. I bring a bunch of it in, but there is more than I want to mess with. I can send 7 or 8 branches in a manilla envelope for around $2.74. I've send some out already. I would send it out for a flat $2.50 (I would prefer postage) rather than try to keep track of how much postage is on each of them. I will try to get as close to that rate as I can when I package them. I will be sending it out until it is gone. Most of them already have roots on them.
Soooooooooooo, if you want some just let me know. You can send me your addy by dmail. I mail out on Monday-Wednesday so they make it before the weekend.
