Hello,
I've been wondering how dangerous this spider is, as I run into it frequently on weedy fields and it's rather big.
Could someone please help me identify it?
CLOSED: X spider
I am a total novice, but looks to be arigiope aurantia, common in the Americas, but did not know she also lives in Europe...??
I think the Argiope bruennichi is common in Europe and it is a very similar spider.

From what I've read, it's not really a threat, unless provoked.
Thanks!
They can bite, but rarely do. They're more cowardly than bully. The effect is no worse than a bee sting on most people.
