ETRU TRADE THREAD Oct 23,2010

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Go after the tree guys! They owe you for damages.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

they are removing the trees for free it is not costing anything to have them come and remove them

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

It is not right, that they should destroy your garden in the process.
How sad, that some people don't care, that just isin't right.
I am sorry that you are having this problem, Bless you.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

They are making a profit with the trees or they would not be removing them. They have no right to damage your property without your permission. Of course, I am thinking logically, not legally.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry for all of that mess you are going through. I guess free is not always free. Hope it is over for you soon.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I have some Red Rocket seedlings but they are small.

Phyllis, Smock has a bunch of white crapes, if you want them. Just let us know & he will dig them up. He has a momma tree that has the beautiful bark that peels & is red underneath. He has so many that he just mows the babies over.

Cinnamon Crapes.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Oh thank you so much for your loving words it means alot to me.

I would love to have some of everything you all are offering Ken and Smokette.
DH did take the time to help me find the few bulbs I could find and he cleaned off the landscape are that didn't get busted up but was covered with pine branches and even moved some of the big pieces on the garden area so they don't mess up where the lavender is.

I just hope they get back here monday and finish getting the big mess cleaned up.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello again, I am in need of Qt. size round pots. I find these work real well for taking mid size Brug cuttings and Costus Ginger cuttings.

Does anyone know if Karen (darkmoondreamer) is coming to this RU? I have water plants that I promised her but was unable to bring in the spring. I can't make this RU, but I do have someone who is willing to take them if Karen is going to be there.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Kenboy, please put my name on that flat of gingers. I have seen that same pix on 2 RU threads & I WANT IT!!! LOL
I will find enough qts to replace what are in the flat & maybe more!!!
pbtxlady, I will be @ NTRU & could also take them to Karen if she is going to ETRU for you.
LMK

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady,
The last time I talked to her, she had plans to come. no worries though, if she doesn't make it I will drop them off at her house. Tina

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

okay, I will plan to get them to you in Arlington. I'm trying to figure out if that's even feasible--since they are water plants. I'll have to figure out how to fix them up so you can keep them for 2 weeks without too much trouble. Maybe Smockette won't mind helping. Thanks for offering, Linda.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I will be at the RU, thanks Linda and Tina! Patty, was that you that gave me the Hillary's sweet lemon mint in the Spring? I lost it at the end of summer and would love to have a tiny sprig if you still have some...

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Karen, was I supposed to send garlic for you?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Karen...that was me that brought the Hilary's Sweet Lemon Mint. It isn't as strong grower as most mints....sorry. I am going to send on by Ken Boy, Smockette or Tina for you.
Sheila

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Sheila! Can the Hilary's sweet lemon live in the ground once established or do I need to keep it in a pot year round? It did well in the ground all summer before I lost it, but I didn't know if it would winter in the ground. I really loved it! Josephine, no thank you, you gave me garlic at the Spring RU...

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Mine is in the ground for about 6 yrs now so I can say it will do fine once established. I tried it in a pot once and that died.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Karen, I don't think I had you down for anything except water plants, so if you got anything from me, it was just an extra I brought. Maybe a canna? Anyway, I have your water plants ready, and they are twice the size they were in May.

Longview, TX

Can anyone reading this thread give me an answer? All of the seed companies said to plant wildflower seeds in the fall. What fall month is the best?
Jameso

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I would say late October and through November. Early fall in Texas can be rather warm and might cause the seeds not requiring a chilling period to sprout. If that happens those little plants would likely be killed by frost.

Planting later would keep that from happening, until Spring when it would be safer, while at the same time giving the ones that need the cold treatment a chance to sprout at their proper time.

Longview, TX

Thanks Josephine

I'm planting seeds for our Northeast Texas Native Plant Society's spring sale. Once they sprout I plan on putting them in my greenhouse, so freezes and plants don't kill them and hopefully they will be bigger seedlings in the spring. I guess for some of the east Texas natives the frost wouldn't bother them. Let me know if my logic is flawed.
James H

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Your logic is very logical James.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Time is drawing closer please make sure to drop by the main thread and post how many are coming wtih you and we can do potluck listing there too

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, I'm in Dallas & my dad came thru his surgery just fine. Now, if he can get over the soreness, I think he will be fine for many more yrs. He is only 84!!!
Kenboy, I didn't bring your Loropet or the pots to NTRU (but have the other plants) b/c I ran out of space in my CRV with my cats, kittylitter box, etc, but will be bring them to ETRU, for sure. We will be in Smock's truck, not that it holds more than my CRV but he likes to drive & drive his truck!!! lol
As soon as tomorrow is over, this thread will be getting long like the ones on NTRU!!!
