My sis in law was stung the other day, it swelled quite badly, today my mum caught this fly, none of us can determine what type of insect it is.
When my sister in law went to the doctors, he told her that there was a new strain of Mosquitos in the UK which causes this type of inflammation. As on-one can determine what this is we thought that maybe this could be the insect that caused it??
Any suggestions??
Cheers.
Anybody shed any light on this bad boy?!
Whatever stung your sister-in-law was not this critter, as it is a non-venomous wasp in the family Ichneumonidae, possibly Pimpla instigator - see http://tinyurl.com/25rabr4 for an image. All ichneumon wasps are parasitic on insects and other arthropods.
Many thanks!
He can now be released!!!
