still impressive
The Pacific Northwest
Looks like you had a wonderful trip, and gave a very good snapshot of the PNW. Nostalgic for me, as everything was familiar, but haven't been to a lot of the parks recently. At some point my husband and I would like to tour the NE and will be sure to request advise from you in turn.
Beautiful Debilu!! Fly out there and rented a car? - or a trailer?
Thanks bonehead and WC.
We flew into Seattle, rented a car and drove a big loop. It would have been nice to spend more time at each place but DH really wanted to see everything, and he was driving. It might have been cheaper to fly into another city, DH even said Reno, but that would have been more driving.
I have GOT to do that, (I'm drooling! lol!!)
Glad you enjoyed your time here Debilu. Your photos capture a sample of the beauy here and we never get tired of it. Seasonal changes are wonderful too. Sorry it was cloudy on Mt. Rainier day. You would have had more pics of spectacular scenery.
wow debbie - great vaca and beautiful shots - really like the moss forest stone shots and that ravine with the stream looking down was great. did you get a chance to walk in the ocean alone the coast? there are supposed to be some fantastic stones in the surf.
Lovely Deb!! I have always wanted to take a trip out that way, it's so beautiful!
Thank you for posting picutres and making us drool and dream! LOL
The only time I visited the PNW was by train (although we stayed in Seattle for a few days), but it's lovely, & you took some awesome photos, Deb......
Wonderous trip and wonderous pics debilu! You are forgiven for not coming to visit me cuz it's been stormy and rainy on this side of the big rocks so wouldn't have been nice to pictify.
Thanks for the tour Deb, hopefully I get out that way some day
Hi Deb,
your trip looks like a lot of fun. Your very noisy bird is a Clark's nutcracker. It's related to jays and is only found where whitebark pine trees grow. They have an interesting symbiotic relationship. Those are great photos!

Gorgeous, Deb! Can't wait to hit the parks out there. We may go to Yellowstone next year.
Thanks everyone, and for the bird ID.
We bought an annual park pass, but 2 of the parks didn't charge a fee, and one we were at during fee free weekend. Will have to look that up for next year, could have saved a few bucks this year. We don't have that many NPs in the east.
Check out Mammoth Caves NP. Different experience, but really cool!
I think we were there about 11 years ago, definitely did a big cave. I'll have to dig up my pics.
Beautiful pictures debilu. I live on Hood Canal and look out over the Olympics on most of the roads around here. You surely did capture the beauty of the Northwest.
Thanks WW, it was easy to do, just looked around! Hope to get back someday.
great tour Deb!!!... thank you for sharing those... love the photo of the painter
OHHHH-ma-gawd
Debilu I love the
Dr. Seuse forrest.the mossy rock garden, deep gorges, wide vistas. It was a trip of a lifetime.
Thanks for posting great photos.
Thanks Allison and JoAnne, it certainly was a trip of a lifetime. I'm really fortunate to have been able to do the traveling we have done. I really liked the colors of the glacier fed lakes and Crater Lake. Each was really beautiful.
A friend of mine studies waters of the earth. The top of the world water is clean ,the further south you look it get dirtier and dirtier.
I remember being able to see deep into the lake and see the bottom plants comming for light at the surface.
No such luck these days.
Glacier Lake color and clearity must have been a treat for the eyes.
