Hi! I just signed up to find out what type of moth/butterfly this is? We found it on our front porch and from afar we thought it was just a leaf. We have plenty of moths around our front porch but none this big and we were wondering what kind it is. Its body is thick and the top part is hairy. Its antennae have what look like "feelers" or something. The wings are spotted like a butterfly. Can someone let me know? Thanks so much!!

This is a male polyphemus moth (Anthera polyphemus; Lepidoptera: Saturniidae); the antennae of females are less 'feathery' - see http://tinyurl.com/laod23 for images and detailed information.
Great - thanks!!
