Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Well... Clem... I did go there today.. called first and asked if they had it.. his reply was NO... whay would anyone want that.. they used to carry it.. and they had more complants on it so they dropped it... they do have some thngs wth a lttle of it n there... so I was mistaken.. so I went anyway... and got some starting soil.. fox farms Lght Warrior seed and plant starter mix.. and a few T-5 fixtures for the cool room's light... 4' T-5 s my new bulb format.. that way I can keep replacement bulbs and they will work anywhere here.. aside from the HID lights..
looks like I'll be ordering the GA3 online ...

X...well.. I did order some Gibberellic Acid to try and kick start some of the seeds.. it is scary... many recomendations I saw were for soakng @ 500 ppm.. so @200 you should be real safe...
for anyone interested.. ordered it from a few places.. to test f there was a difference in suppliers and what they sold... I didn't order it on e-bay as it seemed a bit uncontroled as everyone delivers it n their own way... but the stories abound.. 400 lb pumpkns grown in the islands.. with a 45 lb growth over a weekend... and tests on wallnut trees... where untreated they grew 1.5 ft over their first year.. and 8.5 ft in the treated trees... these two were havng it applied to growng plants.. through out the growing season.. as a spray or paste on the growing tip.. guess I mght try it... and look for some 50 lb passon flower fruits in the fall.. or maybe just a 24" flower would be nice...
the first kit was... from united nuclear scientific equiptment and supply couldn't passup ordering from them.. seemed on the up and up.. and I wanted a t shirt with an A.Einstein quote on it that they had.." If we knew what we were doing... we wouldn't call it Research " .. it came as two bottles.. one flled with some GA3 @ 1000 ppm and an empty spray bottle to apply it diluted to seeds and leaves..
the second was as part of a kit..J.L.Hudson ..a seeds/plant concern out in CA.. it came with a hoast of useful items... flter paper for soaking little seeds.. a bunch of tiny bagges for soaking seeds.. lttle glass ontaners.. and two empty plastc bottles... the GA3 here comes as a powder in two tiny packets.. you have to let this dissolve in water [ distilled preferred ] int o the 1000 ppm and then you can thn it out from there.. it takes a day or so for the powder to compleatly dissolve.. they are quite adamant that they are sellng t to be used as a seed soak.. they do include instruction sheets as to how to use it.. and the history.. it was discovered in japan back in 1935 wng when they were studying foolish plant disease... in rice.. where the plant grows up too tall to stand upright in water ... so it's growth is instrumental in it's death.. right ... foolish.. any way it's all natural.. and is certified as organic when in seedlings.. and sprays..
got some also in Mega grow.. a seed starting/ growth item from the folks that make the favoirte fertilizer from last year... the algoflash... it's a dark liquid ... so spraying it inside is a bit messy with white walls..
potassium nitrate... hydroggen peroxide... bleach and beer also increase seed germination .. a friends bleach / hydrogen peroxide soak was what I'd been using before on difficult seeds... they have had great luck with it.. getting one of my Temptation x Temptation seeds so sprout this winter .. and the difficult bat flower ... Tacca's .. to sprout from seeds..
well... I'm going to try and leave it all for a week or so and drive south to see mother in AL... .. and maybe over to MS to vist some other relatives and friends. there's the seond best steak house in the country [ by bon appetit magazine ] in Greenville MS.. a favorite stop http://www.doeseatplace.com/ ......perhaps down to New Orleans... got to be careful... there's only 6 casino areas in my path.. they are all likely looking for me to stop and leave my past winnings with them.. maybe I should just stay with mother ... I'll start seed soaing on my return.. and let ya'll know how seed soaking goes...

This stuff is fun to play with .. get a few small spray bottles and mix up different concentrations. Plant a few datura and once they are up with 2 sets of true leaves start spraying the plants with difference concentrations (leave one untreated) and see what happens - keep notes & pictures .. the guidelines you see on the web are basically general. I get my best results for pretty much everything at 200 ppm .. for seed starting you want to break dormancy and nothing more and you really don't want freshly germinated seeds going into overdrive, which they will causing elongation of the stems and fragile cell walls. So keep an eagle eye out on the seeds on the paper (I check mine about 6 times a day) and the second you see a root starting to push out remove it from the GA treated paper and plant it.

X

Forgot to add that GA seems to have a very long shelf life .. The concentrate I have is over 6 years old and still works beautifully. I keep it in my utility room year round .. its cool and dark.
