More gorgeous shots Linth I am in awe of your in-flight shots as well as your skill at capturing the detail on white subjects...just awesome.
"On the Waterfront" - Vol. #7
Just beautiful. How you ever got two egrets in focus that were so far apart is really amazing to me!
Love that Tri-colored Heron!
Great shots Linth!! Very nice variety of birds there!
Awesome captures once again! I can't pick a favorite-they're all so clear, sharp and
interesting.
Wonderful shots again Linth! love the Little Blue Herons!
More awesome shots Linth, they are all captured so beautifully it is hard to pick a favorite. Those Laughing Gulls make me want to laugh and I love all the Heron shots.
Fantastic!!!
Wow! Great images Linth!! Really like the Little Blue Heron shots but all are very nice capture's.
Some good ones Linthicum.
Well, it's been 4 months since I last posted to my "On the Waterfront" thread. Outside of photographing Bald Eagles, I have been fairly inactive. I spent a few days this past week tracking down a rare visitor to my area, namely, the Harlequin Duck. Recent population estimates place the Pacific population at 1 million individuals and the Atlantic population at 11,000 breeding pairs. And, then they generally hang out along the coastal waters. This duck was over 100 miles inland, hanging out with some Buffleheads Canvasbacks and Ruddy Ducks. The adult male Harlequin is a beautiful duck that can't be mistaken for another. This one is an immature male Harlequin shot at 700mm.
How good to see the Harlequin! Is that a new bird for you Linth? Very nice pics!
Great shots Linth!
Love that Harlequin, Linth.
Thanks, everyone.
pelle, yes, that was my first Harlequin. On Monday, I was debating going after a White-winged Dove which is extremely rare for Maryland but I decided instead to visit Blackwater. It's the last time I will go when it is as cloudy as it was. However, I really should try to see the WWDO before it leaves. It is hanging around a backyard feeder near Frederick, MD.
But, in the meantime, here are a few photos of some Snow Geese at Blackwater .......
Excellent photos Linth! I'm so jealous of your ruddy duck photo-every time I see them here lately, the light has been too bright and my pictures look all washed out.
Love all the snow geese shots too. I sure was excited to find one here last week-a very rare sighting in our county.
Wonderful pics Linth!
So nice to see the shore birds, congratulation on your Harlequin duck, it came out lovely. Love the flock of Snow geese.
Great pics linth!
Liking the flock of snow geese shot
Nice shots Linth..really like the flock shot!
Charley, I still have not made it to Bombay Hook yet, life things, and football, but not games next week. Canon is sending me a 1D4 (loaner to test out) and I plan to get there next week, so hopefully the weather is nice because I want to put that camera body to the test. I may be on the move all next weekend. I may even make it to Conowingo Dam, Blackwater and Oakley street.

"How about a little game of paddle ball" ....... This 'White Pelican' was one of a small flock seen from the wildlife drive at Blackwater. Unless their head was exposed most people thought they were Tundra Swans since a few Tundras were swimming in the area. Although I see them occasionally, I have yet to get a close-up shot. This was a 100% crop for a 500mm lens.
