So I've been looking all over the internet trying to figure out what this spider is that I found hanging out on my university campus in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia. As you can see in the picture, it's pretty small, long abdomen and hind legs, but most predominant is the reddish orange markings on the back. My first thought was "red markings... I'm in Australia... Redback?" but it's not anything like the pictures and descriptions of other redbacks. It was on a small web between a couple bushes right outside a building.
It was actually just a foot or less in front of a much larger spider on a web, one that was maybe 3/4 inch head to rump, with long legs, a triangular gold design on its thorax, some other gold coloring on the abdomen, and yellow-gold coloring on the legs. If you can help me identify either one, it would be fantastic, but especially the little red guy, since my extensive searches have been entirely fruitless. Thanks a bunch!
