This is an inch-worm-like larva that was feeding on a blossom of Ipomoea nil. When touched with a twig it arched up as you see in the photo. It was about 15mm long and gray in color. There were dark castings scattered over the flower. Is this adequate information to identify it?

The image is not clear enough (for me, anyway) to make a positive identification. Although it looks like a member of the family Geometridae, there are some members of the family Noctuidae that lack prolegs on the first several abdominal segments and move like loopers.
