CLOSED: Another one I'm not sure about.

(Zone 1)

This is one I spotted yesterday. Sorry about the photo not being any clearer, but it was the only shot I got before my neighbor called me over to the fence to chat. I've been watching but haven't seen this bird since the one sighting yesterday morning.

A couple of weeks ago Ned identified a juvenile Loggerhead Shrike for me, and at first I thought this might be a Shrike too, but from the picture it doesn't seem to have the hooked beak of the Loggerhead Shrike. It could just be that the photo angle wasn't right to see the beak clearly enough. This bird is a lot smaller than the one last week. We have lots of Mockingbirds around these parts but it doesn't really look like any juvenile Mocker I've ever seen. I'm hoping to spot one again in the next day or two and possibly get a better picture but I thought I'd post this one anyway just to get some ideas.

Any ideas?

Great Crested Flycatcher

Resin

(Zone 1)

Resin: Thanks so much for the ID! I looked up the Great Crested Flycatcher in my bird book and it says it is one of our most familiar and vocal woodland birds here in Florida!! It's the first one I've ever seen in the 43 years I've lived here. I googled and listened to the song and it sure matches the vocals of a bird I've been hearing lately! I'm going to be on the lookout to see if I can spot another one and try to get a better picture! Thanks again!
