1) I find this bug very interesting; I saw it flying around once, and then saw it again dead. Its body is bright orange, it has translucent wings, and has an arched back, and long antennae.
Any info about it besides its name would also be appreciated.
2) spider - just curious what it is, I've gotten two spider bites that really swelled up, could it be from this? Appears to have long 'teeth' (what are those?).
Also, I don't have a pic, but there is a bug which I see around alot that it a bright yellow/green with black spots, round body shape, kind of cute looking. Do you know it?

The flying insect is an ichneumon wasp in the subfamily Ophioninae; these usually parasitize moth pupae. The image of the spider is not clear enough for identification, but it does not look like anything dangerous.
sorry, that spider picture is really poor. This spider is compact, 4 cm long, brown legs, black head, only a little hairy. I only saw it dead. But the 'fangs' are what get me. They just look disproportionately long. I might be able to get a better picture if its requested.
thanks for the wasp ID!
See if you can get a clearer photo of the spider; fang length is not in itself a reliable indicator of danger from a bite. In the meantime, have a look at some common California spiders at http://tinyurl.com/cjcxds
