Hi ..
We picked up our Westie puppy 'Piper' about a month ago. Have a thread in the forum called 'Introducing Piper'.
He is Westie #2 .. Westie #1 being a lovely 3 year old female named, Lilly.
We have a HUGE problem with Piper and his collar !!! Trying to put the collar on him is just THE most stressful and horrific experience any of us has had to put up with with a dog EVER !!
The first couple of times we put it down to him not liking it, he'd 'get over it' .. NOT !!!! He literally FLIPS when we try to put the collar on, yipping and crying, trying to get away. Now we're talking a 6lb puppy here .. he develops the strength and tenacity of a PIT BULL !!
We have been successful getting it on him twice. First time we left it on for about 6 hours .. trying to CATCH him to attach the leash was outrageous .. running around in their compound .. gawd ... America's Funniest Videos here I come !!
Second time .. same horrendous event .. I got left with him and decided he was NOT going to win, and, several scratches later .. I did get the collar on, and he did go for a walk with Lilly and he loved it .. but .. since then .. he is just SPUN when we try.
I have yet to call the breeder to see if 'something' happened to Piper, ie, he had his head stuck or something.
Anyway .. I wondered if anyone has any suggestions? Has anyone been through this ?
Thanks for any suggestions folks .. we just want to be able to walk our boy on a leash !!!
