This is the largest non-tarantula I've ever seen. Its body fully seems to be the length of a quarter, not to mention the legs. Sorry, this is the best pic I could get. I'm not letting it out!

This is a very beneficial wolf spider (family Lycosidae); they have very good eyesight and actively hunt down their prey. Large specimens can deliver a painful (but not dangerous) bite if mishandled.
