Aw...what a cutie pie Nanny!
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I know how lucky I am to have these wonderful little jewels and spend many hours a day just watching them...they are very addicting! I am reading "Life List"...a story about Phoebe Snetsinger who had seen over 8400 birds (85% of the total birds on earth) and as I'm reading about her travels I am thinking maybe it would be nice to visit the Hummers wintering grounds!! Hey...just sayin'...
I got this shot this morning of the Hummer enjoying the Cardinal Flower. I've tried for this shot in the past but it seemed it was always in the shade. I had a "duh" moment when I realized since it was potted I could move it to a sunnier and more convenient area!! LOL!

Those shots are awesome, Rose. Sorry to say I have not been checking out this thread, and I have been missing some great shots. I sure hope I see one or two Hummingbirds this winter.
I don't know how I did it, but somehow I'd unwatched this thread. Too many shots to comment on, but all gorgeous of these precious little birds.
oh wow, YAH! There's some competition on that butterfly bush.
They came out great Burd!
Rose, Nice capture!
Beautiful shots, Rose and Burd. What are yellow jackets?
Beautiful shots everyone!!
LOL @ the duh moment!!
Aw, such beautiful pictures again since my last stop by! I love the butterfly hummingbird combos. I am still seeing my normal gang, but everyone keeps talking about migration. Boohoo. I am gone to MO for a long weekend too, so I will have to make sure the feeders are fresh and full and keep my fingers crossed that they will still be here when I get back.
Great photos everyone!! I've been lucky-so far-that the bees have left my feeders alone.
Thanks Rose and Burn. I think it is the same as the one called the European Wasp over here. There a a few colonies within the metropolitan area and people are taught to identify them and report them to the Dept of Environment, who will then go all out to locate and eradicate the nest/s. They are a very recent introduction (say within the last 10-12 years).
Nice collection burd. Sorry they leave so early for you, just as things heat up for me. I usually see the last of them around the beginning of October.
