I can't tell you for sure, but did you know there are two of them in the picture? Look just below her wing you can see his antenna! hehe I think they were under there for a reason.
These appear to be adults of the salt marsh caterpillar, Estigmene acrea (Lepidoptera: Erebidae; subfamily Arctiinae) - see http://tinyurl.com/24gvfj3 for an image.

Thank you you are right again. Actually in other photos I couldn't tell which end was what. Now that is solved.
