Every time i go to lake Erie there are just thousands of them they are quite a pest there, not in the since that they eat everyone plans or anything but there are so many they get on the roads and walkways and it becomes slippery. Check this out! But pest or not I think they are quite pretty!

"Lovebugs" actually are flies in the family Bibionidae ('March flies'); they get that name from their habit of staying in copula for extended periods of time. See http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/mg068 for more information.
