CLOSED: What is this?

...and is it a predator? It has spent the entire day in the shade on the stucco of my home. Sorry about the foto...It was raining.
Thanks ahead of time.

This is an adult antlion (Neuroptera: Myrmeleontidae); I cannot be absolutely certain, but this may be Glenurus gratus, Florida’s most striking species in this family - see http://tinyurl.com/2a2z2bt for images and more information. These are indeed predators; the larvae of this species are found lurking in tree holes, other species have different habits, such as the so-called ‘doodlebugs’ that construct cone-shaped traps in loose soil.

This is the one. I've only seen the pits in the past & watched as a little head popped out trying to capture an ant that escaped suscessfully. I was glad to see many pits around the house I was looking to buy here. I 1st encountered the pits while working in pest control in NH. My mgr. an entomologist, laughed as I described the pits over the phone & said you 'have ant lions' but I never saw the little critters. Thank you, the link was most helpful.
